图5是选择呼叫接收机31即单向寻呼机中各软件部分和显示器的简化图解表示以及这些软件各部分和寻呼机外部其他单元之间相互关系的简化图解表示。广告商100通过业务提供者102输入一条或多条广告即ad,并向业务提供者支付享有这种特权的费用。信息业务104同时但独自地向业务提供者102提供诸如路况报告、天气预报或股市价格等信息,而业务提供者向信息提供者支付这种信息的费用。通常,信息提供者在此采用这些内容之后,很快会以频繁的间隔有规则地更新这类信息。一个或多个个人106,通过打电话给业务提供者,可免费输入用户71所要的个人消息。信息提供者所提供的信息和个人消息统称为第一类信息。广告称为第二类信息。业务提供者通过射频信号以无线方式,向单向寻呼机发送一些ad、信息和消息(视情况而定)。寻呼机通过天线60截收这些RF信号。在接收到RF信号并对ad解码后,该ad存储在一个广告商缓冲区110中,该缓冲区是RAM 88中的一个数据结构。在接收到RF信号并对来自信息业务的更新资料解码后,该更新资料存储在一个信息业务缓冲区112中,该缓冲区是RAM88中的一个数据结构。在接收到RF信号并对个人消息解码后,该消息存储在一个消息缓冲区114中,该缓冲区是RAM88中的一个数据结构。
发送到寻呼机的每条ad有一个分配给它的预定值。优选地,系统控制器最好在非高峰期间向多个寻呼机发送多条ad。多条ad中的每条连同分配给这条ad的值一起存储到广告商缓冲区110中。该值最好以货币单位表示,但该值也可以根据一些个人消息来表示。分配给ad的预定值最好与该ad的大小即长度成正比。一个特殊ad的预定值由用户71通过用户浏览并大致阅读这一特殊ad被恢复。这有利于用户在其方便时浏览这些ad,而不必当用户接收个人消息时就浏览这些ad(在一些现有技术系统中有这种不利的要求)。在接收到来自用户的一个人工请求后,寻呼机上呈现诸如ad的一个消息。该用户采用众所周知的方式在显示器78最好是图形显示器上浏览该ad。所有的ad都有一个唯一的与该ad一起显示的识别号码。为使用户实际阅读而不只是掠过(scroll through)该ad,在用户被认为具有分配给该ad的值之前,在与该ad的长度及复杂度成比例的预定时间段内显示该ad。当该ad在预定时间段内出现在显示器上后,存储在ROM90中的软件部分使得微处理器94自动增加寻呼业务帐目118,而无需用户71进一步的动作。这一增加量等于分配给该ad的值。该寻呼业务帐目118是RAM88中的一个数据结构且是债项/信贷记帐器77的软件指向的目标,该记帐器是一个硬件存储器,如图3所示。
注意,所有的ad都有一个分配给阅读该ad的值,而另外有些ad还有向用户71提出的问题。正确的答案也与该ad一起被发送,但对用户是隐藏的。对于向用户71提出问题的这些ad,用户对这些问题成功回答将被给予一个附加预定值。注意,该ad将以定量方法通知该用户有关回答该ad中所含问题的好处以及将实际回答传送给系统控制器26的附加好处。该用户以两个步骤得到回答该ad中所含问题的好处。首先,对微机80进行编程,以按等级划分这些回答或记录回答的成绩,并可自动地增加寻呼业务帐目118中信贷款。用户利用寻呼机上常规的用户输入装置例如按键回答这些问题,而微机80通过存储在ROM90中的软件部分判断这些回答是否正确。如果回答确实正确,则微机80增加寻呼业务帐目,如果回答不对,则寻呼业务帐目不增加而用户只接收阅读该ad的信贷款。其次,对于单向寻呼机,用户利用该ad中所规定的一个电话号码打电话给系统控制器,并利用一个电话按键键盘响应提示。用户根据出现在寻呼机显示器上的该ad的唯一的识别号码识别该ad。对于双向寻呼机,该寻呼机自动地向系统控制器发送回答和该ad的唯一的识别号码。在这两种情况的任一情况下,系统控制器判断这些回答是否正确,如果正确,系统控制器向该寻呼机发送一个信贷信号,以便信贷寻呼业务帐目118。寻呼机具有对信贷信号进行处理的软件部分120。存储在ROM90中的软件部分,在对信贷信号解码后,可使微处理器94自动增加寻呼业务帐目118,而无需用户71进一步的动作。正确的回答同回答的日期和时间及可能的对广告商有用的其他人口统计学(demographic)信息一起由业务提供者传送给广告商。给予该寻呼机用户一些附加的信贷款,就是因为这些对ad中的问题的回答向广告商可能还向业务提供者提供了有用的信息。即使这些回答本身不提供有用信息,它们也能使广告商确信其ad被阅读。
根据本发明的寻呼机允许用户接收信息业务和个人消息,作为在寻呼机上阅读这些ad的回报。用户订阅的每种信息业务具有分配给它的预定价格。例如,用户订阅股市行情业务,所订阅的每种股票价格是以诸如每次更新10分钱的预定价格不断更新的。还要注意,每个寻呼机可以接收个人消息,这是寻呼机的传统用途。寻呼机所接收的每一个人消息具有一个分配给它的预定价格。数字消息的价格低于字母数字消息的价格,而较长的字母数字消息的价格高于较短的字母数字消息的价格。存储在ROM90中的软件部分,在对信息业务更新资料或个人消息解码后,可使微处理器94自动减少寻呼业务帐目118,而无需用户71进一步的动作。注意,当寻呼业务帐目118的值为零时,根据本发明的寻呼机不允许用户浏览任何信息业务更新资料或任何个人消息。然而,这些信息业务更新资料或个人消息仍可由该寻呼机接收并存储到各自的缓冲区中,以便以后当寻呼业务帐目足以允许显示时被显示。当寻呼业务帐目接近于某一大于零的预定值时,最好在显示器78上显示一个警告消息。一旦出现警告消息,用户就阅读更多的ad或回答出现在ad中的更多的问题。或者两者都进行。如果不再有要阅读的ad或要回答的问题,或者如果用户愿意支付寻呼业务费,则该用户通过任何合适的财务传送装置向业务提供者支付费用,而该业务提供者以无线方式向该寻呼机发送一个信贷信号,以修改该寻呼业务帐目118。
图6是选择呼叫收发信机32即双向寻呼机中各软件部分和显示器的简化图解表示以及这些软件各部分和寻呼机外部其他单元之间相互关系的简化图解表示。除了该双向寻呼机还具有一个应答缓冲区130(该缓冲区是RAM88中的一个数据结构)外,该双向寻呼机的操作与单向寻呼机的操作相似。用户最好通过按寻呼机上的按键来回答问题,对于双向寻呼机,它以无线方式发送回答。ad的唯一识别号码与该回答一起由寻呼机自动地以无线方式发送。当用户浏览一条ad或回答ad中的问题时,ROM90中的软件部分使微机80自动将反向确认(acknowledge-back)即反向信道的应答消息装入应答缓冲区130中,以便对该用户透明地进行自动传输。该应答消息包括对问题的回答。还要注意,可以用本质上与向寻呼机发送ad的方法类似的一种方法向寻呼机发送民意调查(opinion surveys)。这种调查中有一些问题需要用户回答,对这些调查的回答被装入应答消息缓冲区。类似地,但在选择信息业务时,当用户阅读信息业务更新资料时,反向信道的应答消息被装入应答消息缓冲区。这些反向信道传输事实上可立刻进行,或者,如果广告商或信息业务希望的话,也可在以后的非高峰期间进行。这些反向信道传输以无线方式被系统控制器26接收。当接收来自寻呼机的反向信道的应答消息时,业务提供者可立刻最好通过有线线路将这一信息中继给该信息业务和该广告商,它们分别是“信息使用数据”和“ad阅读数据”。这为广告商或民意调查员提供了直接和准确的目标用户内心想法的反馈,作为交换向用户提供存取个人寻呼消息所要的费用。
图7是单向寻呼机或双向寻呼机中条形码产生软件部分和显示器的简化图解表示以及这些软件各部分和寻呼机外部其他单元之间相互关系的简化图解表示。关于单向寻呼机,没有图7中所示反向信道即它是通过有线线路传输的。广告商向业务提供者提供一条包含问题和赠券生成信息的ad。众所周知,目前纸张式赠券都印有一个统一的产品码即条形码145,这种条形码可由条形码阅读器144如一般在超级市场上所看到的激光扫描器来阅读。根据本发明的寻呼机可将赠券式条形码写在该寻呼机的显示器78上。写在该寻呼机上的条形码与寻呼机用户所阅读的ad相应。这种条形码与纸张式赠券上的条形码是一样的。或者,该条形码也可稍有不同,以表示该条形码是由寻呼机产生的;但该寻呼机上的条形码所起的作用与纸张式赠券上的条形码是一样的,即可给予赠券持有者一定的折扣。在阅读了一条ad后或者在正确回答了问题后,驻留在ROM90中的软件部分可使微机将赠券缓冲区140中所累积的赠券制成一览表。赠券缓冲区是RAM88中的一个数据结构,最好是一个相对非易失性存储器。当用户通过常规的寻呼机用户输入装置例如寻呼机上的按键输入一个适当的命令时,驻留在ROM90中的赠券输出软件部分142可使微机将赠券条形码写在显示器上。通常,在需要呈现赠券之前,例如当用户处在超级市场的检验处时,用户应即时输入一个适当的命令。然后,用户或检验员使寻呼机通过激光扫描器,该激光扫描器阅读该赠券,赠券办理便结束。图8示出了写在寻呼机的显示器78上的条形码。或者,不用将条形码写在显示器上,而是将复合字符字母数字码写在显示器上,便于营业员直观观察和手工记录。
图9是说明根据图1的选择呼叫收发信机的操作的流程图,该流程用于建立根据本发明优选实施方式的寻呼帐目业务系统。当用户从呈现在寻呼机的显示器上的可用菜单中选择广告/调查(survey)菜单时(步骤200),来自广告和调查一览表中的一条广告或调查的名称呈现在显示器上,步骤202。该广告/调查(以下简称ad)可通过常规的寻呼机上的用户输入装置选定。用户可选择浏览所选名称的ad,或者通过返回步骤202并浏览表中的下一条ad的名称来滚动翻看ad一览表(步骤204)。一旦一条ad被选定,它便被写在显示器上,步骤206。在步骤208,检查所显示的消息,判断它是否首次被显示。如果该ad首次被显示,则在步骤210测量该ad在显示器上显示的时间。如果该ad在显示器上显示的时间大于一个预定时间段,则本方法进至步骤212,在此按分配给该ad的数额将经费即信贷款存入寻呼业务帐目118,然后本方法进至步骤214。如果此前该ad已被阅读,则本方法也可直接从步骤208进至步骤214。在步骤214,给予用户利用常规的寻呼机上的用户输入装置回答该ad中出现的问题的机会。如果回答问题正确,则将附加数额的经费即信贷款存入寻呼业务帐目118。如果在步骤214回答调查问题,其回答被装入应答缓冲区130中,以便随后发送到系统控制器26。广告商允许用户多次浏览一条ad(步骤218),但希望寻呼业务帐目118只被存入一次。然而,某些ad被设计成要在相对长时间段内被阅读多次,以鼓励记住该ad中所传播的信息。虽然ad被设计成要阅读多次,但按广告商的意图,在预定时间间隔T内禁止存取该ad(步骤220)。或者,该ad在浏览完后被删除(步骤222)。
图10是说明根据图1的选择呼叫收发信机的操作的流程图,该流程说明当使用广告商/调查应答菜单时(步骤230)双向寻呼机32的反向信道发射机64的操作。在步骤232,如果未对调查作回答或者如果未回答来自ad的问题,则不进行发送。但如果对调查进行回答,或者如果回答了来自ad的问题,则在步骤234在反向信道上发送包含了对调查的应答或对问题的回答(视情况而定)的信号。在步骤236,双向寻呼机32的接收机62可接收来自系统控制器26的证实信号,并根据该证实信号判断系统控制器是否接收到反向信道消息。如果系统控制器成功地接收到反向信道消息,则寻呼业务帐目118被增加,并将应答消息从应答缓冲区130中删除。如果反向信道消息未被成功地接收到,则按本发明编程的寻呼机将重新发送该反向信道消息。
图11是说明,当用户在寻呼机上选择个人消息业务或信息业务(统称为“消息/信息业务”)(步骤250)时,根据图1的选择呼叫收发信机的操作的流程图。在步骤252,用户选择在寻呼机上可得到哪种业务。在步骤254,用户选择其中一种业务。如果在步骤256,用户正在浏览以前所接收并已付过费的个人消息或信息,则该个人消息和/或信息以常规方式显示(步骤264)。但如果是首次浏览该个人消息或信息(例如是一个新消息),那么按本发明编程进行操作的寻呼机的微机检查寻呼业务帐目118中是否有足够的经费即信贷款(步骤258)。如果没有足够的经费即信贷款,那么为此在显示器78上写上一个消息(步骤260)。如果有足够的经费即信贷款,那么从寻呼业务帐目中支出等于该信息或个人消息的值的一个数额(步骤262)。每当出现用户浏览来自信息业务的信息的事件时,微机都可识别,并将这一事件装入应答缓冲区130中,以便双向寻呼机随后的传输。由这些事件的数目、特性和时间构成的数据允许该业务提供者和信息业务可以修改传送给用户的信息的内容和特性(如对特殊用户有用的修改的频率)。这使无线信息业务业得以顺利发展。
图12是说明根据图1的选择呼叫收发信机的操作的流程图,该流程说明当选择赠券菜单时(步骤260)寻呼机的操作。一旦赠券菜单被选定,按本发明编程的微机80将检查存储在赠券缓冲区140中所有的赠券的期满日期并删除所有过期的赠券,而且显示赠券缓冲区中未过期的赠券的名称及折扣数额(步骤264)。在步骤266,用户滚动翻看赠券的名称并选择某一赠券。在步骤268,该赠券被写在显示器78上,参见图8。在步骤270,测量该赠券被显示的时间。注意,该赠券将在一个预定的有限时间段内被显示,以避免只能用一次的赠券被反复使用。在步骤272,判断该赠券能否多次被使用。如果该赠券不能多次被使用,则在步骤274,将该赠券从显示器中删除,同时将该赠券从存储在RAM 88中的赠券选择表中擦除。
因此,可以理解,这里已描述了一个广告商付费信息和发报系统,该系统用于将消息呈现在选择呼叫收发信机32上。选择呼叫收发信机从基础设施所接收的个人消息属于第一类信息的消息,而广告和民意测验即民意调查属于第二类信息的消息。根据本发明的这一系统包括:选择呼叫收发信机上的发射机64,用于发送响应第二类信息的消息的内容由用户71人工输入到选择呼叫收发信机的回答信号;基础设施上的接收机30,用于接收该回答信号;基础设施上的控制器26,用于根据该回答信号确定信贷信息;基础设施上的发射机28,用于发送含有该信贷信息的信贷信号;和选择呼叫收发信机32上的微机80,用于根据该信贷信息有选择地禁止或允许呈现第一类信息的消息。另外,还描述了选择呼叫装置,该装置包括:用于接收包括第一类信息和第二类信息的消息的接收机62;用于显示这些消息的显示器78;用于存储信贷单元的存储器即债项/信贷记帐器77;以及与该接收机和显示器相连的微机80。该微机在显示第二类信息后,计算加到存储器中的信贷单元数;根据存储器中至少存有预定信贷单元数,允许显示第一类信息;根据存储器中信贷单元数少于预定信贷单元数,禁止显示第一类信息;和在显示第一类信息后,计算从该存储器中被减去的信贷单元数。
尽管这里详述了本发明的这一优选实施方式,然而可以理解,在不超出附属权利要求书中所阐述的本发明的范围的情况下,还可有多种变化。例如,本发明不局限于无线通信,而还可适用于任何诸如因特网的有线通信系统,或者为信息高速公路积累资金。

Claims (10)

1.一种广告商付费信息和发报系统,用于控制在选择呼叫收发信机上呈现消息,该选择呼叫收发信机从基础设施接收包括第一类信息和第二类信息的消息,该系统包括:
选择呼叫收发信机上的发射机,用于发送响应第二类信息的内容由用户人工输入到选择呼叫收发信机的应答消息;
基础设施上的接收机,用于接收该应答消息;
基础设施上的控制器,用于根据该应答消息确定信贷信息;
基础设施上的发射机,用于发送含有该信贷信息的信贷信号;和
选择呼叫收发信机上的微机,用于根据该信贷信息有选择地禁止和允许呈现第一类信息。
2.一种向用户呈现信息的方法,该方法包括以下步骤:
接收来自该用户的一个人工请求,以呈现第一类信息;和
根据缺少第二类信息的呈现,禁止呈现第一类信息,
其中,第一类信息对应于向用户寻址的征求信息,而第二类信息对应于由广告商补贴第一和第二类信息通信而主动提供的信息。
3.如权利要求2所述的方法,还包括在所述禁止步骤之前指示可使用第一类信息的步骤。
4.如权利要求2所述的方法还包括以下步骤:
接收一个人工请求,以呈现第二类信息;
呈现第二类信息的信息;和
据此允许呈现第一类信息。
5.如权利要求4所述的方法,其中
如果累计值小于与第一类信息有关的第一值,所述禁止步骤禁止呈现第一类信息,和
如果累计值大于该第一值,所述允许步骤允许呈现第一类信息。
6.如权利要求5所述的方法,其中
所述允许步骤还包括根据所述呈现步骤将与第二类信息有关的第二值加到该累计值的步骤。
7.如权利要求6所述的方法,还包括以下步骤:
根据所述允许步骤呈现第一类信息和接收来自用户的一个请求以呈现第一类信息;和
据此从累计值中减去该第一值。
8.如权利要求5所述的方法,其中第二类信息包括一个来自用户的响应的请求。
9.如权利要求8所述的方法,还包括以下步骤:
接收来自用户的该响应,和
其中,所述允许步骤还包括根据所述呈现步骤将与来自用户的该响应有关的第二值加到该累计值的步骤。
10.一种选择呼叫装置,该装置包括:
用于接收包括第一类信息和第二类信息的消息的接收机;
用于显示这些消息的显示器;
用于存储信贷单元的存储器;和
与该接收机和显示器相连的微机,
用于在显示第二类信息之后计算加入到该存储器中的信贷单元数,
用于根据存储器中至少存有预定信贷单元数,允许显示第一类信息,
用于根据存储器中信贷单元数少于预定信贷单元数,禁止显示第一类信息,和
用于在显示第一类信息后,计算从该存储器中被减去的信贷单元数。
