Description

用于实现交互式广播和商业广告的方法和系统
本发明涉及用于广播多媒体信息的系统，例如陆地、有线和卫星电视广播系统，特别是涉及用于实现交互式广播和商业广告的方法和系统。
传统的电视广播系统只是简单地在给定频道上发送的预定规则电视节目中插播规则定时的预定商业广告节目。例如，目前的电视广播系统是完全被动的系统，其中不给观众予电视频道上广播的电视节目和/或商业广告任何选择。唯一的选择是观看所给出的节目、切换频道或关闭电视。而且，收看一个给定的电视频道上的节目的全部观众都看同样的一个电视节目。
授予Carles的美国专利US5515098中公开了在一种所谓的“图象请求”系统中把不同的商业广告分配到不同用户的一种装置和方法。在该系统中，商业广告能够被投递到特定的用户，广告商可以是根据汇编在用户数据库中的地域和其它的信息把这些用户确定为它的某种产品或服务的“目标市场”的一部分。对于作终端用户进行商业发送的广播商和广告商来说，虽然Carles的系统提供了一定程度的灵活性和选择性，但是该系统仍然不能为终端使用者(消费者)提供对于在一个给定频道上所收到的电视节目和/或商业广告的任何选择性。而且，Carles系统将其应用限制在一个通信网络上，其中接到中心服务器的单独的用户单元可被单独地编址，即一个图象请求网络。

虽然本发明的描述是参照用于具体目的的实施例进行，但是应该懂得本发明并不局限于此。本专业的普通技术人员在接触所提供的指教之后将认识到在本发明的范围之内和在其有重要用途的领域之内将会有各种修改和变形。
在本发明的最佳实施例中，是以数字电视接收机，例如ATV或HDTV接收机实现本发明的，这些接收机包括用于解码例如MPEG或ATSC数字视频数据流的广播数字视频数据的数据流的MPEG或ATSC解码器，和用于把解码的数字视频数据流转换成应该模拟电视信号以驱动CRT或其它显示装置/监视器的一个数字一模拟转换器(DAC)。用于实现本发明的方法的软件(应用程序)可被恰当地融于该数字电视接收机中或是在设置或信道改变之时在下行数据流(广播)信道中下载到该数字电视接收机中。为了使得本发明的描述简单，术语“主节目”将被用于表示电视观众感性趣的主要的节目。与此相关，在通常的电视节目中电视广播和电影被视作是主节目，在该主节目中插播有商业广告，即商业广告的间断。
根据本发明的方法的第一个实施例，在当前由观众选择的广播频道上正在广播的节目中的商业广告间断期中，将显示可供观众使用的对于不同的商业广告的选择(或选单)。例如，若干个不同的集册(logos)或电视节目的序列可被显示在电视屏幕的显示区域的不同的部分或空间位置。该集册或电视序列代表或指示对应于得到显示的不同商业广告的不同产品和/或服务和/或公司。下面将这些集册或视频序列叫做“多媒体热点”。不同的多媒体热点的显示可以认为是“马赛克图象”，其多媒体热点的每一个构成各自的子图象。
参考图1，根据本发明的第一个最佳实施例，不同的商业广告最好是经过广播信道作为压缩的多媒体内容的数据包C1、C2...等的多路的数据流而发送，对应于所说的商业广告不同的每一个的多媒体的内容，伴随包括显示多媒体热点菜单的视频数据段的多媒体内容的数据包H的压缩多媒体内容的数据包M。
观众可以适当地采用遥控单元(RCU)或其它的控制装置(例如可编程的键盘)来选择他/她所希望的商业广告，例如通过移动光标(“指向”)并点击表示他/她所希望观看的商业广告的热点，或者输入对应于代表他/她所希望观看的商业广告的节目的号码。可以书写这样的应用程序，即在应该预定的省缺的时间周期(例如15-30秒)内即使观众没有选择任何商业广告，该应用程序将强迫显示一个省缺的商业广告。
根据本发明的方法的第二个实施例，多个主节目被合路在一起并作为多路的数据流经过单一的广播频道传送，伴随有对应于不同的商业广告的压缩的商业广告内容的数据包的多路数据流，以及共同包括显示多媒体热点的选单的视频数据段的多媒体内容的数据包，如图2所示。最好是，所有的主节目具有同步的商业广告的间断期，其间显示对应于商业广告选择菜单选择的多媒体热点。跟踪则能够以上述第一最佳实施例的相同的方式选择他/她所希望的商业广告。
根据本发明的方法的第三个实施例，应该交互式的主节目(例如应该交互式的电视或电影)经过单一的频道在多个数据段或主节目数据段中广播，具有在主节目数据段末端显示的多个不同的多媒体热点给观众以从中选择的不同的可能分支或路由的选单。在主节目中的每一个分支点，被出现的下一个主节目数据段将被通过观众的选择而定。分支的选择可根据主节目的规划的不同的可能性的目录而定，或是根据任何其它的适当的基准而定。
在单一主节目广播的情况下，每一个商业广告的数据包最好是带有各自的数据包识别(PID)码或其它适当的识别码，以便使得对应于被选来进行观看的商业广告数据包被识别并从多路的数据流中分离，并随后被重组。在这种连接中，在数字电视接收机中的应用程序最好是使得该数字电视接收机根据观众选择对于所收的多路数据进行分路，以便使得被选择观看的包括商业广告的数据包能够被重组并显示成在电视屏幕上的连续的图象。例如该解多路可以通过改变被选择来由数字电视接收机显示的PID(即该数字电视接收机被调谐到的PID)而在不同的商业广告数据包之间进行切换来实现。

而且，虽然本发明的描述是利用应该数字电视接收机，但是应该明白，同样可以使用其它的能够进行接收，处理和显示编码的多媒体数据的适当的装置。例如经过调制解调器和国际互联网/WWW相连或与多媒体服务器(例如由服务提供者或广播电台)相连的个人计算机(PC)。而且，传统的NTSC(或PAL/SECAM)连同配备有适当数字机顶合的电视接收机也能够在本发明的实践中使用。
另外，将会很快明白，该操作系统可以有也可以没有一个返回信道。如果存在返回信道的话，可以是一个电缆返回信道(例如在配备有上行电缆调整解调器的有线系统中)或是一个通过标准电话线或高速数据传输线(例如一个ISND或T-1线)连接到多媒体服务器或WWW的一个调整解调器。如果存在反相信道，则观众能够直接地选择服务器或WWW的内容，例如使用一个放置于接收机或接到接收机的外围设备浏览器程序。

Claims (19)

1．一种接收包括主节目和多个不同的商业广告的多路数据流的接收机，它包括：
显示装置；和
响应用户的动作的装置，使得所说的显示装置在主节目的商业广告插播期间显示多个不同的商业广告的选择的之一。
2．根据权利要求1的接收机，其中所说的响应用户的动作的装置包括：
