Abstract

Description

利用互联网电视来调查 收视率的方法及其系统
本发明涉及一种电视(TV)广播系统,特别是涉及一种利用互联网电视来调查收视率的方法及其系统。
现在,每个电视广播站或收视率调查机构通常都是按指定的电视频道和时间段来调查收视率,从而在估计指定时间内的广告费或重组广播节目时更好地利用其调查结果。一种众所周知的调查收视率的技术是进行有限的随机抽查;以及给每个家庭打电话以询问其正在收看的频道。这样的随机抽查需要大量时间和金钱。而且,由于回答询问的不诚实以及调查的时间段有限,此调查法的准确度相对较低。
因此本发明的目的是提供一种借助于互联网TV接收机来自动调查收视率的方法及其系统。
按照本发明的一个方面,一种在互联网TV系统上调查收视率的方法包括一个广播站和至少两个互联网TV接收机,该方法包括下列步骤:先让广播站给互联网TV接收机发送一收看频道搜索命令;收到此收看频道搜索命令后,互联网TV接收机写电子函件通知当前收看的频道并将电子函件传送给广播站;然后广播站在从互联网TV接收机收到的电子函件的基础上计算收视率。
按照本发明的另一个方面,用来调查收视率的互联网电视系统包括:一个广播站,用来将收看频道搜索命令编码为TV广播信号以播送该TV广播信号;至少两个互联网TV接收机,用来对从广播站接收到的TV广播信号进行解码,如果被解码的TV广播信号包含收看频道搜索命令,则写电子函件通知当前收看频道并传送该电子函件给广播站;由此广播站根据从互联网TV接收机收到的电子函件计算收视率。
通过下面参考附图对本发明的示例性的实施例的详细描述,本发明的上述及其它目的、特征和优点会更加明显,其中:
图1是按照本发明一实施例的用来调查收视率的互联网TV系统的概略方框图;
图2示出了按照本发明优选实施例的图1的广播站100中的控制器104的控制过程;
图3示出了按照本发明优选实施例的图1的互联网TV接收机102中的TV微机116的控制过程;
图4示出了按照本发明优选实施例的图1的互联网模块118中的CPU120的控制过程;以及
图5按照本发明的优选实施例示例性地说明通知收看频道的电子函件。
下面对本发明的优选实施例参考附图加以详细说明。虽然如流程图所述的具体实施例被示例性地定义和描述,以说明本发明的主题,但即使没有这些细节,本领域技术人员也可以根据本发明的描述实施本发明。另外,对众所周知的功能及结构的不必要的描述在此被略去。
参照图1,按照本发明的互联网TV系统包括:广播站100;通过公用交换电话网(public switched telephone network,PSTV)的电话线128与广播站100相连的互联网TV接收机102。在广播站100和互联网TV接收机102中,对与本发明主旨无直接关系的结构的描述在本说明书中略去。另外,广播站100和互联网TV接收机102的数目没有限制。
广播站100包括:控制器104;VBI(vertical blanking interval,垂直消隐间隔)编码器106;广播发射机108;和调制解调器110。控制器104、广播站100的主控制器给VBI编码器106提供一收看频道搜索命令,并将此命令与广播信号一起播送出去,并通过调制解调器110从互联网TV接收机102接收收看频道通知E-mail(电子函件),从而计算收视率。VBI编码器106将从控制器104接收的收看频道搜索命令编码为TV广播信号,并将此广播信号传送给广播发射机108。广播发射机108以已知方式调制从VBI编码器106接收到的TV广播信号,并通过天线发送出去。
图2示出按照本发明的广播站100中的控制器104的控制过程。参照图2,控制器104在步骤200中在预定的时间间隔内、或响应操作者的键输入而将收看频道搜索命令传送给VBI编码器106。通过这种方式,由VBI编码器106编码的收看频道搜索命令被装入(或插入)TV广播信号,并通过天线传送给互联网TV接收机102。
同时,互联网TV接收机102包括广播接收机112、VBI解码器114、TV微机116以及互联网模块118。广播接收机112通过天线接收从广播站100传来的TV广播信号,并解调接收的TV广播信号。广播接收机112的输出信号被以已知方式处理,并输到阴极射线管(CRT;未示出)和扬声器(未示出)。另外,广播接收机112的输出信号也传送给VBI解码器114。VBI解码器114对广播接收机112的输出信号进行解码,从而将插入TV广播信号的收看频道搜索命令提取出来。此时,如果VBI已解码数据包含收看频道搜索命令,则VBI已解码数据传送到TV微机116。互联网TV接收机102在TV微机116的控制下,使用互联网模块118来完成一般TV功能以及互联网功能。此外,按照本发明,TV微机116完成收看频道通知功能。
图3示出了按照本发明优选实施例的TV微机116的控制过程。参照图3,TV微机116在步骤300检查是否从广播站100接收到收看频道搜索命令。如果已收到收看频道搜索命令,则TV微机116在步骤302检查当前由调谐器(未示出)所选的频道。在步骤304,TV微机116传送当前所选的频道号和收看频道通知命令给互联网模块118的CPU(中央处理单元)120,并结束此过程。
互联网模块118包括CPU120、存储器122和调制解调器124,并通过总线126互连。调制解调器124通过电话线128与广播站100连接。CPU120与TV微机116通讯,并通过调制解调器124完成互联网搜索功能。存储器122存储CPU120的控制程序及各种参考数据。另外,存储器122临时存储在执行CPU120的控制程序过程中产生的数据(例如,电子函件数据)。调制解调器124在CPU120的控制下打电话给广播站100,并对通过电话线128传送到广播站100或从广播站100接收到的信号进行调制/解调。
图4示出了按照本发明优选实施例的CPU120的控制过程。参照图4,CPU120在步骤400检查是否从TV微机116接收到了收看频道搜索命令。如果收到了收看频道搜索命令,则在步骤402,CPU120写电子函件通知当前收看频道。然后,在步骤404,CPU120通过调制解调器124将电子函件传送给广播站100,并结束此过程。如图5所示,收看频道通知电子函件包括一互联网TV接收机102的用户的电子函件地址(即发信人),一广播站100的电子函件地址(即收信人)。在“subcet(主题)”中字母“9”表示此电子函件是收看频道通知函件,并且收看频道号码被写入“contents(内容)”。
此时,在图2步骤202,广播站100的控制器104通过调制解调器110接收来自互联网TV接收机102的收看频道通知电子函件。然后,在步骤204,控制器104合计从各个互联网TV接收机接收的电子函件,并结束此过程。在此,用接收的特定频道的电子函件数除以收到的总的电子函件数,便得到此特定频道的收视率。
以这种方式,广播站100便能自动调查收视率。相应地,便有可能削减调查收视率所需的费用及时间,并提高调查的准确度。另外,也有可能自由改变各次调查之间的间隔时间。
虽然上面对本发明的优选实施例进行了详述,本领域技术人员应很清楚地理解,对在此公开的基本发明构思进行的许多改变和/或修改仍不偏离所附权利要求书中所定义的本发明的精神及范围。例如,本发明也适用于有线TV系统。

Claims (7)

1.一种在互联网电视(TV)系统中调查收视率的方法,所述系统包括一广播站及至少两个互联网TV接收机,所述方法包括如下步骤:
使所述广播站100传送一收看频道搜索命令给所述互联网TV接收机;
接收到所述收看频道搜索命令后,使所述互联网TV接收机写电子函件通知当前收看频道,并将所述电子函件传送给所述广播站;以及
使所述广播站根据从所述互联网TV接收机接收到的所述电子函件来计算收视率。
2.按照权利要求1所述的在互联网TV系统中调查收视率的方法,其中所述每个电子函件包含一相应互联网TV接收机的电子函件地址、和一所述广播站的电子函件地址。
3.按照权利要求1所述的在互联网TV系统中调查收视率的方法,进一步包括下列步骤:
使所述广播站将所述收看频道搜索命令编码为TV广播信号,并将所述TV广播信号传送给所述互联网TV接收机;
使所述互联网TV接收机对从所述广播站传来的所述TV广播信号进行解码;以及
检验收到的所述TV广播信号中是否包含所述收看频道搜索命令。
4.按照权利要求3所述的在互联网TV系统中调查收视率的方法,其中所述收视率是用特定TV频道的所述电子函件数除以所述收到的电子函件的总数而得到的。
5.一种用来调查收视率的互联网TV系统,包括:
一广播站,用来将收看频道搜索命令编码为TV广播信号,从而播送此TV广播信号;以及
至少两个互联网TV接收机,用来对从所述广播站接收到的所述TV广播信号进行解码,如果所述的已解码的TV广播信号包含所述收看频道搜索命令,则写电子函件通知当前频道,并将所述电子函件传送给所述广播站;
由此所述广播站根据从互联网TV接收机接收到的所述电子函件来计算收视率。
6.按照权利要求5所述的用来调查收视率的互联网TV系统,其中所述电子函件包含一相应互联网TV接收机的电子函件地址、和一广播站的电子函件地址。
7.按照权利要求6所述的用来调查收视率的互联网TV系统,其中收视率是用特定TV频道的所述电子函件数除以所述收到的电子函件的总数得到的。
