Abstract

Description

用于电视接收机中的使用预 告工具的时间安排装置
本发明涉及用于选择为在将来某日观看或录制电视节目的时间安排的(scheduling)装置。
选择一个电视节目观看的动作变得更为复杂，因为最近可用频道的数目显著增加，例如RCADSS直播卫星接收机提供多达150个频道可供选择。以前，用户若希望查一下“现在演什么”，他只能查阅当地报纸上登载的电视节目表，希望最终能发现能引起他兴趣的节目。
当只有几个电视频道节目表供查阅时，这种办法也许很好，然而，观众不大可能完全查阅150个电视频道的节目表来查找在给定时间“上演什么”。即使所有的节目都按目录列出，这样的任务也足以令人望而却步。观众可能发现，在大量可看的节目中只有少数几个他感兴趣。也就是说，好象大海捞针一样。因此人们觉得，随着频道数目的增加，在短时内成功地找到一个希望的节目的机会变得越来越不可能了。
本发明的目的在于提供一种用于电视接收机中的使用预告工具(Predictive Agent)的时间安排装置，其可按用户观看兴趣的一定判据来检索电视节目并预告这些他感兴趣的节目。
在对将来要播放的节目事先至少播放这些节目的名称信息而形成频道指南表的电视系统中，提供用于检索满足用户观看爱好的一定判据的特别电视节目的该装置，在检索成功时，该装置产生一个这样的电视节目的表为观众预告可能有兴趣的某些节目。在本发明的第一实施例中，该装置存储该用户看的有关特别电视节目的信息作为检索判据。在本发明的第二实施例中，用户可编辑该检索判据进一步精炼检索。
本发明提供一种用在对将来要播放的节目事先至少播放节目名称信息以形成频道指南表的电视系统中的装置，包括：
用于存储代表所述频道指南表的数据和用于存储代表由用户先前观看的电视节目的特征表的数据的存储装置；
用于输入用户输入数据的数据输入装置；
执行对所述频道指南表的检索代表由所述用户先前观看的电视节目的特征的所述数据相匹配的控制装置；
用于在所术控制装置的控制下显示文字和图像的屏幕上显示装置；其中
在所述检索成功时，所述控制装置控制所述屏幕显示装置通知所述用户所选择的电视节目的可用性，这种选择是根据与由所述用户先前观看的电视节目的特征表的项具有相似的特征而进行的。
本发明还提供一种在对将来要播放的节目事先至少播放节目名称信息以形成频道指南表的电视系统中的电视节目检索方法，包括下述步骤：
在存储装置中存储代表所述频道指南表的数据和存储代表所述所述用户先前观看的电视节目的特征的数据：
执行所述频道指南表的检索，以与代表所述用户先前观看的电视节目的特征的特定数据相匹配；
在所述检索成功时，通知所述用户具有与先前观看的电视节目的特征相似特征的所述电视节目的可用性。

像RCADSS直播卫星系统和STARSIGHT这样的电视系统播放频道指南，为在订户的电视接收机上显示。
图1表示一个节目指南屏幕显示110，它由例如一个RCADSS直播卫星接收机系统产生，这种系统由美国印第安纳州印第安纳波里斯市的汤姆森消费电子公司生产。用户通过移动光标(通过操作遥控器的上、下、左和右方向控制键，未示出)到节目指南屏幕显示的一个包含所要的节目名称的框，从供观看的节目指南中选择一个电视节目。当按下遥控器的SELECT(选择)键时，判读光标的x和y位置，得出实际频道和节目时间信息。在图1的例子中，一个特定的电视节目，CINE SATURDAY NIGHT MOVIE：ZULU(星期六晚间电影：祖鲁)高亮显示，供使用遥控器(例如图4中的450R)的光标键选择。图1中的高亮显示是用框住名称的黑框线表示的。通常，按下选择键时，相关的编程数据传送到编程单元。还应该注意，表示了一个辅助文字显示120。辅助文字显示120提供有关高亮显示的电视节目的另外的数据。下面说明由频道指南屏幕110和辅助文字显示120提供的数据的进一步应用。
图2表示一个“预告工具表(predictive agent list)”或“已看项目表”，它可以作为显示屏幕210产生。每当一个节目观看一个给定的时间，例如5分或更长的时间，则数据由本发明的装置自动地存储在该预告工具表中。以这种方式，保存一个用户观看习惯的纪录，从而可以指导本装置预告哪个一即将播出的节目是该观众有兴趣的。
图2示出一个预告媒体表210。在图2的例子中，该观众看了7部电影，(电视节目类型“电影”是称为“主题”的一个广义分类)。最后一部电影是在1995年11月15号看的。在这7部电影中，有3部主题是“喜剧片”，4部主题是“故事片”。最后一部喜剧片是在1995年11月15日看的，最后一部故事片是1995年9月27日看的。该观众还看了21集名称为“TheSimpsons”的电视节目。注意，每一项是否锁定的标识也存储在该预告媒体表中。观众可以锁定一项以防止在最近没有看该特定项的情况下系统自动删除该项。此外，用户可以编辑和审查项目表以便更好地筛选要预告的节目(见图6c)。
图3的流程图表示自动载入已看项目表，其中例程在步骤300进入。在步骤305，检查调谐器是否调谐到当前频道超过5分钟。如果没有，该例程在步骤310跳出；如果超过，该例程前进到步骤320从存储器中得到已看项目表。在步骤325，检查与当前所看电视节目一致的项目是否已经存在于已看项目表中。如果是，该项目的计数增1，例程在步骤335退出。如果与当前所看电视节目一致的项目在已看项目表中不存在，则例程前进到步骤340。在步骤340，检查该表是否已满。如果未满，则把当前看的电视节目的数据标识加在已看项目表中，子例程在步骤335退出。如果在步骤340判定已看项目表已满，则在步骤350，例程将读取表中最近最少看的项目。在步骤355检查该项目是否锁定。如果是，则意味着观众不想删除该项目，例程循环返回步骤360，而从表中取下一最近最少看的项目。该项目依次在步骤355被检查，看其是否被锁定。如果没有，该例程前进到步骤365，在这里删除该项目，给表提供存储空间。然后例程前进到步骤345，把新项目加到表中，并在步骤335退出。
观众可能请求检索来看在一给定时间“播映什么”(见图6a)，检索的结果将是一个电视节目预告表，用户也许发现他感兴趣。这种预告表通过一个屏幕上显示(on-screen display)(见图6b)显示给用户。显示的表可以以一种“加权”方式显示，例如以观看特定类型节目次数的递减次序排列。预告表的产生示于图5的流程图中。
如同上面指出的，由本发明的装置的控制器所使用以形成上述交互或确认语句的频道指南数据可以从一个卫星电视通信系统接收到。图4表示这样的一个卫星电视通信系统，其中，卫星400S接收从地基的发射机400T发射的代表音频、视频、或数据信息的信号。通过工作在特定频率和具有给定带宽的转发器，卫星放大和转发这一信号到位于消费者居所的多个接收机400R。这样的系统包括一个上行链路的发射部分(地面对卫星)、一个地球轨道卫星接收和发射单元、和一个包括位于用户居所的接收机的下行链路部分(卫星对地面)。
在这样一个卫星系统中，选择一个给定的电视节目必需的信息并不是固定编程于每一个接收机中，而在每一个转发器上从卫星连续地下载。电视节目选择信息包括一组称为主节目指南(MPG)的数据，它涉及电视节目名称、它们开始和结束的时间，要给用户显示的实际频道号码，以及用于分配实际频道到转发器频率和由一个特定的转发器发射的时分多路复用数据流中位置的信息。在这样的一个系统中，在从卫星接收到第一主节目指南之前不可能调谐任何频道，因为接收机(IRD即集成接收机解码器)对于在任何转发器的数据流内的频率和位置(亦即数据时隙)确实不知道任何频道位于何处。
最好是主节目指南在所有转发器用电视节目视频和音频数据发射，并周期性地例如每2秒重复。一旦接收到主节目指南，它便被保存在接收机的一个存储器单元中，并周期性地例如以每30分钟更新。保存主节目指南允许即时选择电视节目，因为必要的选择数据总是可用。如果在使用主节目指南数据选择一个电视节目后要舍弃它，则在可以选择任何另外的电视节目之前，在获取一个新的节目指南时，至少有两秒的时延。
一旦调谐到带有所要的电视节目的频道转发器后，则可以通过对数据包检验合适的SCID(服务分量标识)12位码而从转发器接收的数据流中选择包含该节目的音频和视频信息的数据包。如果当前接收到的数据包的SCID与在节目指南中列出的所要的电视节目的SCID相匹配，则该数据包被传送至接收机中适当的数据处理部分。如果一个特定的数据包的SCID与在节目指南中列出的所要的电视节目的SCID不匹配，则丢弃该数据包。
下面简要叙述适合于实施上述发明的系统硬件。在图4中，发射机400T处理从信号源401(例如一个电视信号源)来的数据信号并把它发射到一个卫星400S，该卫星接收并转发这一信号到接收天线400A，它放大该信号到接收机400R。发射机400T包括一个编码器410T，一个调制器(即调制/前向误差校正器(FEC))420T，和一个上行链路单元430T。编码器410T根据事先规定的标准例如MPEG压缩和编码从信号源来的信号。MPEG是由国际标准化组织的运动图象专家组为编码描述存储在数字存储介质上的运动图象和相关的声音而开发的一个国际标准。从单元410T来的编码信号被供给调制器/前向误差校正器(FEC)420T，它编码该带有误差校正数据的信号，而四相移相键控(QPSK)调制该编码信号到载波。
上行链路单元430T发射该压缩和编码过的信号到卫星400S，它播放该信号到一个选择的地理接收区域。从卫星400S来的信号由联接到所谓的顶置式接收机400R(即一个安放在电视接收机上部的接口装置)的输入端的天线碟400A接收。接收机400R包括一个解调器(解调器/前向误差校正器(FEG)解码器)410R以解调该信号并解码误差校正数据，一个IR(红外)接收器412以接收IR遥控命令，一个与解调器/FEC单元410R交互作用的微处理器415R，和传输单元420R以根据信号内容，即音频或视频信息，传输信号到在单元400R内的适合的解码器430R。一个NTSC(国家电视标准委员会)编码器440R编码已解码的信号为适合于在标准NTSC制式家用VCR402和标准NTSC制式家用电视接收机403中的信号处理电路的格式。微处理器(或微控制器，或微计算机)415R接收从遥控器450R来的红外(IR)控制信号，并把控制信号通过一个IR链路418R发送到VCR402。微处理器415R还产生给用户显示交互语句或确认语句所需要的屏幕上显示(OSD)信号。微处理器415R还接收和判读光标键x和y位置，以便控制屏幕上显示(on-screendisplay)中的用户选择事项的高亮显示。
在图5中说明自动产生预告表的例程。该例程在步骤500进入，而在步骤520，检索新近接收到的节目指南以与在图2已看项目表中的检索项相匹配。注意，图1的另外的节目说明数据120也要被检索以与图2中的检索项相对应。该检索例程在步骤525循环直到完成。在步骤530，加权该表以便显示。然后在步骤535显示预告为收看者感兴趣的项目的表，而在步骤540程序退出。
图6a-6c表示允许用户练习本发明的特征的屏幕显示。特别地说，图6a是一个通过DSS卫星电视系统的普通层次菜单系统访问的预告工具主菜单(Predictive Agent Main Menu)屏幕。图6a的屏幕显示分别标有“请求建议(Request a Suggesting)”和“编辑用户信息(Edit Vser Information)”的两个“软键”。选择“请求建议”引起执行预告操作，产生图6b的屏幕显示。图6b表示对用户的预告，例如在Fox频道上的电影Annie Hall作为对该特定观众预告为感兴趣的节目表的开头。观众可以在该表上高亮显示一项，然后或者调谐到该节目，或者录制它。在图6a中的屏幕显示的另一种选择是“编辑用户信息”。假定观众看了一个称为(为说明起见)“不希望的节目(UndesiredShow)”的节目。进一步假定该观众不喜欢那个节目，并且不希望这个节目影响将来的预告。通过选择“编辑用户信息”软键，图6c的屏幕被显示。于是观众可以高亮显示“不希望的节目”这一项，并通过按压“删除项目(DeleteItem)”软键删除它。如同上面指出的，观众还可以锁定一个希望的入口保证在需要空间时即使该项计数低，或最近未被观看也不被自动删除。
虽然本发明是参考一个卫星电视系统说明的，但是它同样可应用于地基的电视广播系统，无论是数字的还是模拟的

Claims (10)

1、一种用在对将来要播放的节目事先至少播放节目名称信息以形成频道指南表的电视系统中的装置，其特征在于包括：
用于存储代表所述频道指南表的数据和用于存储代表由用户先前观看的电视节目的特征表的数据的存储装置；
用于输入用户输入的数据的数据输入装置(412R)；
执行对所述频道指南表的检索以与代表由所述用户先前观看的电视节目的特征的所述数据相匹配的控制装置(415R)；
用于在所述控制装置(415R)的控制下显示文字和图像的屏幕上显示装置(403)；
在所述检索成功时，所述控制装置(415R)控制所述屏幕上显示装置(403)通知所述用户所选择的电视节目的可用性，这种选择是根据与由所述用户先前观看的电视节目的特征表的项具有相似的特征而进行的。
2、如权利要求1所述的装置，其特征在于，用户先前观看的电视节目的所述特征表的所述特征包括主题、名称、日期、或题目信息。
3、如权利要求2所述的装置，其特征在于，所述控制装置(415R)定时一段时期，该时期从紧接用户选择一个电视节目后开始，如果所述时期超过一个预定量的时间，所述控制装置(415R)修改用户观看的电视节目的所述特征表以反映所述电视节目选择。

5、如权利要求4所述的装置，其特征在于，所述控制装置(415R)响应用户输入的数据控制所述屏幕上显示装置(403)显示所述特征表，和所述控制装置(415R)响应用户输入的数据修改所述特征表。
6、如权利要求1所述的装置，其特征在于，所述控制装置(415R)产生一个包括一个电视节目表的电视节目显示来通知所述用户所述电视节目的可用性，所述这些节目具有和先前观看的电视节目的特征相似的特征。

执行所述频道指南表的检索，以与代表所述用户先前观看的电视节目的特征的特定数据相匹配；
在所述检索成功时，通知所述用户具有与先前观看的电视节目的特征相似特征的所述电视节目的可用性。
10、如权利要求9所述的方法，其特征在于，当电视节目说明文字伴随所述频道指南播出时，还包括步骤：
执行所述电视节目说明文字的检索，以查找可能与所述电视节目的片名、影星、导演、或情节有关的一个特定的文字串。
