Description

本发明涉及寻呼网络,特别涉及蜂窝式系统的寻呼网络。
无线寻呼网络是公知的。这种网络一般是在大的地理区域内发送短的寻呼消息(可闻的或者可显示的)。在这样系统内的寻呼接收机(寻呼机)典型地被构成用于监视寻呼信道的标识码。当收到一个码时,寻呼机将接收的码与一个内部码进行比较。当内部码与发送的码相符时,该寻呼机在输出设备上重现与这个码有关的寻呼消息,以益于用户。
虽然这种系统费用低、通信快在商业市场中有成效,但是它们存在着与传输单向性有关的缺点。在寻呼机下不工作或在工作范围之外的特定情况下,定向到该寻呼接收机的寻呼消息可能丢失。
其它寻呼系统已用具有确认寻呼通知消息的寻呼机构成。这种寻呼机装有发射机,用以在检测到指向该相应寻呼机的寻呼时用于发送寻呼确认消息。
在上述系统发送寻呼通知而该寻呼接收机不响应(设备不工作或在范围之外)的情况,该系统周期地发送该寻呼消息。当该系统从该接收机收到寻呼确认时,该系统可立即发送该寻呼消息以及为该寻呼机保持的已累积在消息队列中的任何其它寻呼消息。
虽然消息传输延期到寻呼已被确认可减少丢失消息的发生率,但是这样的系统内可能遭受其它的问题。在很多消息已累积在该系统消息队列中和基站现场收到寻呼确认的情况,该基站现场可立即发送该队列中的所有消息。立即传输队列消息可能埋没寻呼机的存储能力。而且,在一个延长的期间寻呼确认未被收到的情况下,消息队列可能变得满了,从而要求对一些消息进行重写,结果丢失消息。鉴于寻呼系统的重要性,因此需要一种避免丢失信息的传送寻呼消息的方法。
本发明提供一种用于蜂窝式通信系统中传送寻呼消息的方法和装置,该方法和装置包括用于寻呼通信单元的装置和步骤和在寻呼时段期满时将寻呼消息变换为录音(voice)邮件消息的装置和步骤。
图1示出一个根据本发明的蜂窝式通信系统的方框图。
图2示出一个根据本发明的蜂窝消息中心的方框图。
图3示出一个根据本发明的传送消息方法的流程图。
对于解决排队的寻呼消息存在的问题概念上是从寻呼队列中除去最旧的消息,将该消息变换为录音邮件并通过电话互连将这样的录音邮件传送到寻呼用户。从队列除去寻呼消息的判据可以是时间或队列容量。在寻呼队列中长于15分钟的消息与短于5分钟的消息是不相适应的。最大的寻呼周期(如15分钟)可由用户设定为除去和变换的标准。
队列容量可以是用以衡量控制变换的另一个参数。具有较低业务等级的寻呼系统用户可寻呼较低容量的队列(如5个消息)。如果在最大寻呼时段内进入该队列的消息数超过5个消息,则旧的消息将被变换为录音邮件。
当寻呼消息进入录音邮件时,录音邮件寻呼请求可被转发回到该寻呼系统。该录音邮件寻呼通知等待消息的用户。录音邮件通知也可以通过本地电话连接(例如在一个商务地点)给用户。在优选的实施例的情况下,录音邮件寻呼请求是在该录音邮件系统内自动地产生的并且转发回到该寻呼系统。在本发明的另一个实施例中,寻呼和录音邮件是分开系统的一部分,寻呼消息在该录呼系统内产生,通知寻呼用户:寻呼消息已被转换为录音邮件并存储在录音邮件系统中。
当收到这种录音邮件请求时,该寻呼系统产生一个录音邮件寻呼消息。录音邮件寻呼消息与其它用户寻呼消息不同点在于:录音邮件消息传输更不经常。如果用户消息没有传送,可以每3分钟发送,而录音邮件通知每15分钟或者每半小时发送一次。录音邮件通知相对于存储在录音邮件中消息的数量也不变化。
除了更不常发送之外,录音邮件寻呼消息提供在相同的时间间隔传送相同数量的寻呼消息的好处,而不管有多个寻呼消息已被转换和存储的录音邮件中。这种录音邮件寻呼消息向用户提供多余的、旧的消息的指示,而系统没有中断或消息丢失。当从寻呼系统向录音邮件系统转发时,在录音邮件系统内产生寻呼消息的转换并包括一定的格式变化。由于录音邮件系统是交互作用的(菜单控制的),该寻呼消息被转换为与这样的系统兼容的一种形式。为此目的,有关寻呼接收的时间和日期的信息可与寻呼消息相组合。然后按照后进先出(LIFO)格式、先进先出(FIFO),寻呼消息可与其它录音邮件息交错,或在优选实施例的情况下,在分开的录音邮件菜单输入后被存取。
在录音邮件的情况下,重放的寻呼消息也可以与接收的信源和时间有关的信息相组合。
例如,声频信息“你在1992年10月2日下午3时收到一个数字寻呼。该消息是708-555-1212”可以在声频表达的寻呼消息之前出现。
转换寻呼消息内的消息转换可以使用多种不同的方法中的任一种方法进行。寻呼信息可使用一个话音合成器进行转换,该合成器具有声频表达的寻呼消息,并存储在存储媒体(例如计算机磁盘)中。寻呼消息内的信息也可从作为ASCII文件存储在计算机磁盘内,并在传送到录音邮件用户时转换为声音。
在录音邮件的情况下,存储的寻呼消息的重现可以由电话局的电话互连、投币式电话等或者由寻呼用户携带的蜂窝式电话来实现的。寻呼消息还可由也适合于通过数字消息业务(DSM用户移动单元)接收寻呼消息的蜂窝电话来重现。能够接收寻呼消息的这种蜂窝式电话是从莫托罗拉公司购到的窄带先进移动电话业务(NAMPS)蜂窝式电话。
在本发明的一个实施例中使用NAMPS蜂窝式电话,因为它能起着数字寻呼接收机以及蜂窝式电话机的作用。在NAMPS蜂窝式电话机有效呼叫期间,寻呼消息可以通过发亚音频信号来接收(见转让给莫托罗拉公司的Levine发明的美国专利4984290,作为在有效呼叫期间NAMPS亚音频信令的一个例子)。从NAMPS电话机来的寻呼确认也以亚音频信号的形式返回。
在静态时段(电话机“接通”但没有在进行的有效呼叫),NAMPS电话起着现有技术的寻呼机的作用。一个例外是寻呼消息被发送到NAMPS单元,而确认在蜂窝信令信道上返回。在NAMPS电话上的显示器提供回叫号码(数字寻呼)或短电文消息(短消息)的可视指示。在NAMPS电话机不工作的时段期间,寻呼消息被排队或转换为录音邮件消息。
图1示出根据本发明的一个实施例NAMPS寻呼机和蜂窝式电话系统(10)的方框图。该系统(10)包括一个电子式移动交换机(EMX)(20)、基站现场控制器(BSC)(24)、蜂窝式消息中心(CMC)(18)、控制台终端(14和16)和公共交换电话网(PSTN)(22)。图1还示出一个DMS用户移动单元(12)。
EMX(20)可以是从莫托罗拉公司购到的并在伊利诺斯洲Schaumburg的莫托罗拉服务出版社出版的莫托罗拉指导手册NO.68P81054E59中描述的那类EMX。EMX(20)用于提供在位于PSTN(22)之外的蜂窝式网络内的蜂窝交换功能。EMX(20)与许多蜂窝基站(24)(图1中只示出一个)连接;一个常规的蜂窝基站(24)可使用由伊利诺斯洲Schaumburg的莫托罗拉服务出版社出版的莫托罗拉指导手册NO.68P810548E32-A中叙述的的那类的发射机和接收机。
EMX(20)除提供呼叫控制和交换功能之外还提供对存储器的控制和在CMC(18)与DMS用户移动单元(12)之间传送寻呼消息和录音邮件。CME(18)可以是从莫托罗拉公司购到的并在由伊利诺斯洲Schaumburg的莫托罗拉服务出版社出版的莫托罗拉的手册NO.68P09212A30中叙述的那类CMC。
图3示出本发明的一个实施例的系统(10)的操作流程图。参见(图3)便可理解本发明。
下文举例的方式来说明PSTM(22)中的PSTN用户(23)拨SMS用户单元(12)的蜂窝接入号码。PSTN(22)发送该呼叫到EMX(20)(步骤42)。EMX(20)从系统(10)中的每个BSC(24)或者通过DMS用户单元(12)已最后登记的BSC(24)发送呼叫寻呼。如果DMS用户单元(12)回答(步骤44),则该呼叫作为一个蜂窝电话呼叫处理。如果用户单元(12)没有回答(单元关机或呼叫在进行中),则EMX(20)发送(步骤46)该呼叫到CMC(18)。
在CMC(18)内消息控制器(MC)(图2的标号36)接收该呼叫,并由声频合成器(38)向主叫显示菜单操作(步骤48)。PSTN用户(23)可选择录音邮件或寻呼。如果用户(23)选择(步骤48)寻呼,则在CMC(18)内的寻呼消息存储器(38)中分配存储单元。MC(36)允许用户(23)输入寻呼消息。当输入寻呼消息时,在寻呼消息存储器(38)内的输入完成,而该呼叫终止。
在寻呼消息完成后,寻呼请求组成了(34),并且从MC(36)向EMX(20)传送。当EMX(20)收到该请求时,寻呼消息通过每个BSC(24)发送(52),以利用DMS用户移动单元(12)。在寻呼间隔(例如3分钟)之后该寻呼再重复。
该寻呼被重复直到该过程已经重复了最大寻呼时段(例如15分钟)为止。当已经超过最大寻呼时段时,MC(36)将该寻呼从寻呼消息存储器(38)中删去(56),将该消息转换为录音邮件并在录音邮件存储器(30)中存储该消息。
在录音邮件存储器(30)中该消息被保留直到由DMS用户移动单元或由该用户通过某些其它的电话检索到时为止。在录音邮件保留在录音邮件存储器(30)内时,录音邮件寻呼以等于录音邮件寻呼间隔(例如15分钟)的正常间隔来组成(34)。录音邮件寻呼由MC(36)发送到EMX(20)。EMX(20)又使得BSC(24)发送该录音邮件寻呼到DMS用户移动单元(12)。
当收到录音邮件寻呼时,作为该寻呼的一部分,DMS用户移动单元(12)接收CMC(18)内的录音邮件的电话接入号码。当拨该接入号码时,DMS用户移动单元被任意地供给检索的录音邮件。当检索这样的录音邮件时,根据DMS用户移动单元(12)的要求,检索的邮件可保持或删去。

Claims (9)

1、一种用在蜂窝式通信系统中传送寻呼消息的方法,该方法其特征在于包括以下步骤:
A)寻呼通信单元;和
C)在寻呼时段期满时,将该寻呼消息转换为录音邮件消息。
2、根据权利要求1的方法,其特征在于,寻呼该通信单元的步骤还包括在一条射频信道上从基站发送一个寻呼通知的步骤。
3、根据权利要求1的方法,其特征在于,包括在录音邮件存储系统中存储转换的录音邮件消息的步骤。
4、一种用在蜂窝通信系统中传送寻呼消息的装置,该装置其特征在于包括:
A)寻呼通信单元的装置;和
C)在寻呼时段期满时转换寻呼消息为录音邮件消息的装置。
5、根据权利要求4的装置,其特征在于,寻呼通信单元的装置还包括在射频信道上从基站发送寻呼通知的装置。
6、根据权利要求4的装置,其特征在于,还包括在录音邮件存储系统中存储转换的录音邮件消息的装置。
7、一种用在蜂窝式通信系统中传送寻呼消息的方法,该蜂窝式通信系统具有多个基站现场,每个基站现场有一个业务复盖区域,和一个通信单元,该方法其特征在于包括以下步骤:
A)在多个基站现场中的一个基站现场处接收对该通信单元的寻呼消息;
B)从该基站现场在射频信道上发送寻呼通知;
C)当最大寻呼时段期满时,转换该寻呼消息为录音邮件并在一个录音邮件系统内存储这种录音邮件。
8、根据权利要求7的方法,其特征在于,还包括在一个录音邮件存储系统中存储转换的录音邮件消息的步骤。
9、一种用在蜂窝式通信系统中给一个蜂窝式通信单元传送寻呼消息的方法,该蜂窝式通信系统具有多个基站现场,该方法其特征在于包括以下步骤:
A)从多个基站现场的每个基站现场发送一个寻呼通知;
B)在最大的寻呼时段内等待从该通信单元来的寻呼响应;
C)当最大寻呼时段期满时,将该寻呼消息转换为录音邮件消息并存储在一个录音邮件系统中;和
D)以一个录音邮件的格式传送该寻呼消息。
