Abstract

背景技术
随着智能电话、平板和其它移动设备的日益流行,由移动运营商的网络所处理的数据量也同样增加。为了减少对网络基础结构压力和减少网络传输的成本,移动运营商从提供不受限的移动数据计划转变成提供设限的且计量的计划。使用一些设限的且计量的计划时,超出所分配的数据上限的费用可能是昂贵的。尽管一些现有的web浏览器尝试优化数据业务,但现有的系统通常缺少将每个用户的特定需求与数据传输成本进行平衡的机制。因此,使用所述现有系统,用户可能不知不觉地超出了所分配的数据上限并经历带宽阻塞(例如施加到消费速率上的减少或限制)和/或面对比正常的每月账单高得多的账单,导致“账单震惊”。阻塞和账单震惊可以影响用户的体验,引起不满意的顾客、增加的顾客服务呼叫以及对移动运营商的负面印象。
发明内容
本发明的实施例管理对用于数据传输的网络连接的使用。第一计算设备从在该第一计算设备上执行的一个或多个应用接收多个数据传输请求。该多个数据传输请求中的每一个都具有与其相关联的优先级信息。将该优先级信息与第一计算设备和第二计算设备之间的一个或多个网络连接进行比较。至少基于该比较且基于与第一计算设备的用户相关联的数据使用计划来选择发起接收到的多个数据传输请求中的一个或多个。在其他实施例中,除了优先级信息之外,还基于其它因素或考虑事项来选择发起数据传输请求。

参考附图,本发明的实施例使得能够为数据传输请求112确定优先级以管理数据消费。在一些实施例中,在计算设备102上执行的服务允许应用110定义关于数据传输请求112中的每一个的优先级信息114。该服务基于优先级信息并且在一些实施例中基于鉴于数据使用计划116的数据使用统计120来将可用网络连接132与数据传输请求112进行匹配。数据使用统计120被用来确定与数据使用计划116下所分配的使用相比用户和/或计算设备102使用不足、正常使用还是超额使用。例如,数据使用计划116可以与用户104、计算设备102、一组用户104、一组计算设备102或其任意组合相关联。在一些实施例中,当匹配所请求的优先级信息114的网络连接132不再可用时和/或当预期数据使用超出账期分配时,服务通知所选应用110。作为响应,应用110能够停止数据传输以便为具有更高优先级的任务保留数据消费。
本发明的各方面还使得应用110能够基于用户体验即时性要求来为数据传输确定优先级并平衡数据传输。例如,应用110可将低优先级操作推迟至无成本网络连接132。这使得计算设备102能够区分话务的紧急性,以便在该设备处在免费Wi-Fi连接、基于付费的Wi-Fi连接、系链连接、蜂窝连接、多SIM设备等上时最小化通过任何特定网络类型传送的数据量。

对所访问的数据传输请求112的选择还可包括分析与用户104和/或计算设备102相关联的数据使用计划116。例如,计算设备102可跟踪在每一个网络连接132上进行的数据传输的累积量。计算设备102将所跟踪的累积量与同每一个网络连接132相关联的对应阈值118进行比较。另选地或另外地,计算设备102将对所跟踪的累积量的预估(例如,与记账周期的末尾相关联)与同每一个网络连接132相关联的对应阈值118进行比较。计算设备102基于该比较来选择一个或多个数据传输请求112。例如,计算设备102确定可用网络连接132的所跟踪的累积量是否小于对应的阈值118。如果计算设备102确定有特定的可用网络连接132上的可用数据消费剩余(例如,累积量小于阈值118),则计算设备102继续将数据传输请求112匹配到那些网络连接132。对于其上进一步的数据消费不可用的网络连接132,计算设备102在将数据传输请求112分配到网络连接132时不考虑那些网络连接132。阈值118可以从数据使用计划116获取。
例如,计算设备102可将检测到的网络连接132与数据使用计划116下的当前消费相关,以确定哪些网络连接132对应用110可用,如以下表2所示。以下表2继续使用以上表1中提供的示例优先级。

如果多个网络连接132可用,则计算设备102可以在通知应用110时对网络连接132进行排序。例如,网络连接可以从免费到昂贵和/或从快到慢排序。
计算设备102发起所选数据传输请求112,或者在208可将该选择通知给相关联的应用110以使得那些应用110能够发起其对应的所选数据传输请求112中的一个或多个。
在202分析网络连接132之后,计算设备102可得出以下结论:先前检测到的一个网络连接132不再可用或者即将不再可用。如果在210计算设备102检测到一个或多个先前检测到的网络连接132的缺失或预期缺失,则计算设备102标识可能试图用现在缺失的网络连接132来执行数据传输的应用110。例如,计算设备102可分析数据传输请求112与网络连接132之间的先前映射或分配。在212,计算设备102将检测到的网络连接132的缺失通知给那些应用110。
作为响应,被通知的应用110可挂起或推迟其数据传输请求112在现在缺失或即将缺失的网络连接132上的执行。被通知的应用110然后可以在可用的不同网络连接132上发起已被挂起或延迟的数据传输中的一个或多个。例如,如果计算设备102检测到第一网络连接132不再可用,则应用110可挂起第一网络连接132上的执行并继续或发起第二网络连接132上的执行。在其中与第二网络连接132相关联的数据传输成本比与第一网络连接132相关联的数据传输成本更高(即,更昂贵)或基于数据使用统计120的实施例中,应用110(和/或优先级组件126)可选择不使用第二网络连接132。应用110可改为尝试阻止在第二网络连接132上执行数据传输请求112以防止为用户104招致更高的网络传输成本。
在一些实施例中,图2所示的操作中的一个或多个是由图1所示的计算机可执行组件来执行的。例如,接口组件122在由计算设备102的处理器106执行时使得处理器106从在计算设备102上执行的一个或多个应用110接收多个数据传输请求112。类型组件124在由计算设备102的处理器106执行时使得处理器106对在计算设备102和至少一个其它计算设备之间检测到的一个或多个网络连接132进行归类。优先级组件126在由计算设备102的处理器106执行时使得处理器106基于优先级信息以及与所归类的网络连接132相关联的剩余带宽(例如,剩余数据消费)来将一个或多个数据传输请求112分配给所归类的网络连接132。剩余的数据消费可以从数据使用计划116和/或数据使用统计120中确定。在一些实施例中,优先级信息组件126基于来自类型组件124的分类来对网络连接132进行排序。通知组件128在由计算设备102的处理器106执行时使得处理器106将所分配的数据传输请求112通知给应用110。
接下来参考图3,示例性序列图示出了可供发起数据传输请求的网络连接132的通知。一个或多个应用110向在计算设备102上执行的事件调度器302或其它组件注册,以用于数据传输请求112和网络连接132之间的分配。一个或多个已注册应用110请求使用至少一个网络连接132来发起数据传输(例如,发送或接收)。这些应用110还可提供与数据传输请求112相关联的优先级信息114。
核心联网组件304在计算设备102上执行以检测对计算设备102可用的网络连接132。核心联网组件304可以连续地(例如,没有中断)或不间断地(例如,周期性地,诸如每分钟)分析每一个网络连接132。在其他实施例中,核心联网组件304在从至少一个应用110接收到使用至少一个网络连接132的请求时分析每一个网络连接132。此外,核心联网组件304可具有用于检查不同的网络连接132的不同调度。例如,核心联网组件304可以比Wi-Fi连接的可用性更频繁地检查漫游蜂窝连接的可用性。
除了检查联网连接的存在或缺失之外,核心联网组件304(或在计算设备102上执行的另一组件)可以在确定特定联网连接是否可供应用110使用时检查数据使用统计120。如果用户104和/或设备已超出或即将超出特定网络连接132的阈值118,则核心联网组件304可确定该特定网络连接132不“可用”,以避免招致数据使用计划116下的额外收费。
核心联网组件304将网络连接132的存在和/或缺失通知给事件调度器302。当接收到该通知时,事件调度器302将已排队的数据传输请求112映射或匹配到可用网络连接132。例如,如果来自核心联网组件304的通知指示具有优先级X的网络连接132是可用的,则事件调度器302标识已经对具有指定优先级X的优先级信息114的数据传输请求112进行发送或排队的已注册应用110。
接下来参考图4,示例性图示示出了与示例性数据使用计划116相比的数据消费。在图4的示例中,示例性数据使用计划116指示200兆字节(MB)是每个月的特定网络连接132类型(例如,蜂窝)的阈值118。构想其它阈值118(例如,不同于200MB)和其它账期(例如,不同于一个月)。图4的图示中的线反映在这个月的过程中对200MB的线性使用。然而,也构想诸如非线性模式等其它数据使用模式。一般而言,使用曲线的形状拟合到或以其它方式取决于使用模式(例如,数据使用模式)。例如,数据使用模式可基于用户104和/或其它用户104的历史网络数据消费。
计算设备102和/或移动运营商跟踪用户104和/或计算设备102的数据消费以生成数据使用统计120。图中的圆圈指示其中用户102和/或计算设备102是超额使用(例如,大于数据使用模式的使用,用户104正常将在月末之前超出200MB的数据消费)、正常使用(例如,大致等于数据使用模式的使用,用户104正常将在月末附近消费200MB)以及使用不足(例如,小于数据使用模式的使用,用户104正常将不会在月末之前消费全部200MB)的近似区域。
在一些实施例中,给定记账周期中的日期以及对于该记账周期的当前或最新数据消费,超额使用可被定义为用户104正处于所计划的限制(例如,曲线的值)或处在所计划的限制之上。例如,给定记账周期中的日期以及对于该记账周期的当前或最新数据消费,执行推断或预估以预测与记账周期的末尾相关联的消费。类似地,给定记账周期中的日期以及对于该记账周期的当前或最新数据消费,正常使用可被定义为用户104正处在至少比所计划的限制低5%。类似地,给定记账周期中的日期以及对于该记账周期的当前或最新数据消费,使用不足可被定义为用户104正处在至少比所计划的限制低20%。在一些其它实施例中,如果在账期期间的任何时刻数据使用在特定网络连接132的限制的10%之内,则向用户104和/或应用110发送通知。计算设备102然后可停止使用网络连接132的优先级P3数据传输请求。
一些实施例构想“超限”类别,该类别允许用户选择不通过后台传输来进行数据消费,除非该后台传输是用户发起的或者被认为是关键的。
附加示例
图1中的各元件的至少一部分功能可以由图1中的其他元件或图1中未示出的实体(例如,处理器、web服务、服务器、应用程序、计算设备等)执行。
在某些实施例中,图2和图3所示的操作可以以在计算机可读介质上编码的软件指令、以被编程或设计为执行操作的硬件或这两者来实现。例如,本公开的各方面可以被实现为片上系统或包括多个互连的、导电元件的其它电路。
在一些实施例中,在此所述的术语“漫游”是指在订户家庭区域之外提供的连接性,所述连接性可能导致附加的税、费用或约束。漫游服务可以由或可以不由同一移动运营商111来提供。在一些实施例中,在此所述的术语“系链”是指一个设备作为另一个设备的网络访问的接入点的情况。系链连接可以在有线连接或无线连接上发生。在一些实施例中,在此所述的术语“Wi-Fi”是指使用高频无线电信号用于数据传输的无线局域网络。在一些实施例中,在此所述的术语“蓝牙”是指用于在短距离上使用短波长无线电传输来交换数据的无线技术标准。在一些实施例中,在此所述的术语“蜂窝”是指使用短程无线电站的无线通信系统,当将这些短程无线电站结合在一起时允许在广泛的地理区域上的数据传输。在一些实施例中,在此所述的术语“NFC”是指用于在短距离上交换数据的短程高频无线通信技术。
已经参考所监视的和/或从用户104收集的数据来描述了实施例。在一些实施例中,向用户104提供收集数据的通知(例如,经由对话框或偏好设置)并且给予用户104对监视和/或收集给予同意或拒绝同意的机会。该同意可以采用选择加入同意或选择退出同意的形式。
示例性操作环境
本发明的各方面能够在任何计算设备或屏幕上进行操作和/或显示。例如,用户104可以在移动设备、游戏控制台、车内计算系统(例如,娱乐和/或导航)、便携式媒体播放器和膝上型计算机之间移动。
示例性计算机可读介质包括闪存驱动器、数字多功能盘(DVD)、紧致盘(CD)、软盘以及磁带盒。作为示例而非限制,计算机可读介质可包括计算机存储介质和通信介质。计算机存储介质包括以用于存储诸如计算机可读指令、数据结构、程序模块或其它数据的信息的任何方法或技术实现的易失性与非易失性、可移动与不可移动介质。计算机存储介质是有形的,且与通信介质互斥。在一些实施例中,计算机存储介质用硬件实现。示例性计算机存储介质包括硬盘、闪存驱动器和其它固态存储器。作为对比,通信介质通常体现诸如载波或其他传输机制等已调制数据信号中的计算机可读指令、数据结构、程序模块或其他数据,并包括任何信息传递介质。
尽管结合示例性计算系统环境进行了描述,但本公开的各实施例能够用众多其它通用或专用计算系统环境、配置或设备实现。

Claims (10)
1.一种用于管理对用于数据传输的网络连接的使用的系统,所述系统包括:
与移动计算设备相关联的存储器区域,所述存储器区域存储从在所述移动计算设备上执行的多个应用中的至少一个应用接收到的多个数据传输请求,所述存储器区域还存储与所述多个数据传输请求中的每一个相关联的优先级信息;以及
处理器,所述处理器被编程为:
将存储在所述存储器区域中的所述优先级信息与在所述移动计算设备和另一计算设备之间可用的至少一个网络连接进行比较;
基于所述比较来选择要发起的所述接收到的多个数据传输请求中的一个或多个;
将所选数据传输请求通知给与所选数据传输请求相关联的应用,所述应用发起所选数据传输请求中的至少一个数据传输请求;
检测所述网络连接的缺失;以及
将检测到的缺失通知给与所选数据传输请求相关联的应用,所述应用响应于所述通知来挂起所选数据传输请求中的所述至少一个数据传输请求中的一个或多个。
2.如权利要求1所述的系统,其特征在于,所述处理器被编程为通过检测第一网络连接的缺失来检测所述网络连接的缺失,其中所选数据传输请求可以用所述第一网络连接和第二网络连接来操作,其中所述应用响应于所述通知来挂起所选数据传输请求的执行以阻止在所述第二网络连接上执行所选数据传输请求,并且其中与所述第二网络连接相关联的数据传输成本大于与所述第一网络连接相关联的数据传输成本。
3.如权利要求1所述的系统,其特征在于,所述存储器区域还存储描述与在所述移动计算设备和所述另一计算设备之间检测到的网络连接相关联的阈值的数据使用计划,其中所述处理器被编程为通过以下操作来选择所述接收到的多个数据传输请求中的一个或多个:通过基于所述阈值分析剩余的数据消费来选择所述接收到的多个数据传输请求中的一个或多个。
4.如权利要求1所述的系统,其特征在于,进一步包括用于通过基于所述优先级信息伺机使用所述网络连接来降低数据传输成本的装置。
5.如权利要求1所述的系统,其特征在于,所述存储器区域还存储包含计算机可执行组件的一个或多个计算机存储介质,所述组件包括:
接口组件,所述接口组件在被执行时使得至少一个处理器从在第一计算设备上执行的一个或多个应用接收多个数据传输请求,所述多个数据传输请求中的每一个都具有与其相关联的优先级信息;
类型组件,所述类型组件在被执行时使得至少一个处理器对在所述第一计算设备和第二计算设备之间检测到的一个或多个网络连接进行归类;
优先级组件,所述优先级组件在被执行时使得至少一个处理器基于所述优先级信息以及与所归类的网络连接相关联的剩余数据消费来将所述多个数据传输请求中的一个或多个分配给所归类的网络连接,所述剩余数据消费从与所述第一计算设备的用户相关联的数据使用计划中确定;以及
通知组件,所述通知组件在被执行时使得至少一个处理器将所分配的数据传输请求通知给所述应用。
6.一种方法,包括:
从在第一计算设备上执行的一个或多个应用接收多个数据传输请求,所述多个数据传输请求中的每一个都具有与其相关联的优先级信息;
将所述优先级信息与所述第一计算设备和第二计算设备之间的一个或多个网络连接进行比较;
基于所述比较并且基于与所述第一计算设备的用户相关联的数据使用计划来选择要发起的接收到的多个数据传输请求中的一个或多个。
7.如权利要求6所述的方法,其特征在于,进一步包括从所述一个或多个应用接收关于所述多个数据传输请求的优先级信息,并且进一步包括对于所述接收到的多个数据传输请求中的每一个,将所述优先级信息确定为以下各项中的一个或多个:显式、后台、伺机和预测。
8.如权利要求6所述的方法,其特征在于,进一步包括发起所述接收到的多个数据传输请求中的所选择的一个或多个数据传输请求或者通知与所述接收到的多个数据传输请求中的所选择的一个或多个数据传输请求相关联的应用发起这些数据传输请求。
9.如权利要求6所述的方法,其特征在于,进一步包括跟踪所述网络连接中的每一个上的数据传输的累积量,其中比较进一步包括将所跟踪的累积量与同所述网络连接中的每一个相关联的对应阈值进行比较,其中选择进一步包括基于所跟踪的累积量是否小于所述对应阈值来选择要发起的所述接收到的多个数据传输请求中的一个或多个,并且进一步包括从所述数据使用计划获取所述阈值。
10.如权利要求6所述的方法,其特征在于,所述接收、所述比较和所述选择是由在所述第一计算设备上执行的操作系统来执行的。
