Abstract

Description

嵌有斜盘簧的电连接器
本发明涉及一种电连接器,其提供了两配合部分之间的机械接口和电接口。通常,它们具有相同的要求,也即,低电阻率和坚固的机械连接性能以适应环境。电阻(resistance)是接触点数目、表面条件和接触点处的法向力的函数。法向力必须高到足以穿透任何表面膜,但又不能高到妨碍连接。刮擦或清洁也是去除氧化膜或表面膜的必需的工序之一。
强烈需要一种连接器件,其可以在较大的容差(tolerance)和表面偏心率(surface eccentricity)的范围下工作,而不会降低其电性能。当然,除了要维持较大振动环境下的高电导率外,成本和尺寸也常常是重要的考虑内容。
已经发展了大量的用于导体的技术。通常,它们利用各种天窗构造或者篮形构造来提供多种具有适当法向力水平的接触点。美国专利3107966(Bonhomme)示范了一种导线篮(wire basket)。美国专利4720157(Nestor)示范了片簧的使用。美国专利3980387(Neidecker)示范了有天窗构造的金属片的使用。在所有这三件专利中,法向力分别由篮形构造、条形构造和天窗构造的弹力作用来提供。所述装置所施加的法向力是各独立元件的偏移量(deflection)的函数。
本发明用安装内的斜盘簧(canted coil spring)取代了天窗、导线篮和片簧,其中螺旋凹槽位于连接器外壳中。斜盘簧提供了与连接器插入部分的多个接触点。连接器外壳可以根据连接器的最终用途用绝缘材料模制,或者用导电材料制造。该弹簧可以用各种合金制造,比如铂铱合金。弹簧可以电镀以增强其导电性。该斜盘簧具有如下优点,它在大范围的偏移下具有近似恒定的力,因而连接器可以接受大的耐受范围和大的表面离心率范围。尤其是经过设计的轴向弹簧具有优异的表面膜去除性能。使用斜盘簧使得接触点的高密度成为可能,而高密度的接触点又使得该连接器比使用其它技术的产品更为紧凑。
发明概要
根据本发明的凹式电连接器(female electrical connector)大致包括主体,其具有贯穿其中以容纳插头的内孔,连接器还包括形成在该内孔中的螺旋凹槽。
斜盘簧设置在螺旋凹槽中且从中突出,以提供到插头的连接,并把该插头保持在内孔中。
接片(connecting lug)嵌入在主体中,且环绕内孔并与弹簧互连,接片还包括延伸到主体外的导线部分,以提供从外部源经过接片盘簧(lug coil spring)及插头的电连通。
主体可以由非导体材料形成。凹槽可以是平的,具有V形底部,或具有锥形底部(tapered bottom)。根据既要把插头保持在内孔中又要建立并维持电流的连续性而所需的力的特性,这多种凹槽构造可以与径向的斜盘簧或轴向的斜盘簧一起应用。
应用本发明的结构,根据本发明的一种提供电连接到电插头上的方法,其包括提供一种凹式电连接器,其中该连接器包括主体,而该主体具有贯穿其中以容纳电插头的内孔,该连接器还包括形成在该内孔中的螺旋凹槽。
在螺旋凹槽中提供并设置了斜盘簧,该斜盘簧从凹槽中突出,以提供到插头的电连接,并把插头保持在内孔中;而主体中嵌入有接片,其环绕内孔且与弹簧互连,接片还包括延伸到主体外的导线部分。
根据本发明的方法通过把插头插入带有弹簧的内孔而完成,其中该弹簧保持插头与内孔,并提供电连接。

详细描述
参考图1和图2,其中显示了根据本发明的凹式电连接器10,还显示了凸式连接器、或者说插头12,虚线显示了其可以通过连接器10的主体20中的内孔18而插入,内孔18的尺寸设计成可通过插头前端22而容纳插头12。
主体20优选地由绝缘材料形成,而螺旋凹槽26形成在内孔18内。在实施例10中,凹槽包括V形底部30,而斜盘簧设置在凹槽26内,其暴露部分38接触到插头前端22,并且提供足够抵靠力而将插头前端22保持在内孔18中。
设置了接片42,其优选地放在主体20的端部44上,且优选地通过嵌入在主体20内的接片端部48而固定在其中。
如图2所清楚地显示,弹簧34包括焊到接片上的段52。该接片环绕内孔18,并包括延伸到主体20外的导线部分56。

图7所示的轴向弹簧80或图8所示的径向弹簧82都可以设置在凹槽26、64、74中,而凹槽26、64、74可以具有多种构造,插入力和保持力的需求以及电气性能,将决定弹簧的具体设计、弹簧段、材料以及它是径向还是轴向的。

Claims (18)

1.一种凹式电连接器,其包括:
主体,其具有贯穿其中以用来容纳电插头的内孔;
螺旋凹槽,其形成在所述内孔中;
斜盘簧,其设置在所述螺旋凹槽内并从中突出,以提供到所述插头的电连接,并把所述插头保持在所述内孔中;和
接片,其嵌入在所述主体中,环绕所述内孔,且与所述弹簧互连,并且还具有延伸到所述主体外的导线部分。
2.根据权利要求1所述的连接器,其特征在于,所述主体由非导电材料形成。
3.根据权利要求1所述的连接器,其特征在于,所述凹槽是平底凹槽。
4.根据权利要求3所述的连接器,其特征在于,所述斜盘簧是轴向斜盘簧。
5.根据权利要求3所述的连接器,其特征在于,所述斜盘簧是径向斜盘簧。
6.根据权利要求1所述的连接器,其特征在于,所述凹槽是V形底凹槽。
7.根据权利要求6所述的连接器,其特征在于,所述弹簧是轴向斜盘簧。
8.根据权利要求6所述的连接器,其特征在于,所述弹簧是径向斜盘簧。
9.根据权利要求1所述的连接器,其特征在于,所述凹槽具有锥形底部。
10.根据权利要求9所述的连接器,其特征在于,所述弹簧是轴向斜盘簧。
11.根据权利要求9所述的连接器,其特征在于,所述弹簧是径向斜盘簧。
13.一种凹式电连接器,其包括:
主体,具有贯穿其中以用来容纳电插头的内孔;
螺旋凹槽,其形成在所述内孔中;
斜盘簧,其设置在所述螺旋凹槽中并从中突出,以提供到所述插头的电连接,且把所述插头保持在所述内孔中;和
接片,其设置在所述主体中,环绕所述内孔,且与所述弹簧互连,并且还具有延伸到所述主体外的导线部分。
14.根据权利要求13所述的连接器,其特征在于,所述接片设置在所述主体的端部。
15.根据权利要求14所述的连接器,其特征在于,所述接片包括嵌在所述主体内的端部,以便将所述接片固定在所述主体上。
16.根据权利要求15所述的连接器,其特征在于,所述弹簧和所述接片之间的互连位于所述主体内,并位于所述接片的内表面上。
17.根据权利要求13所述的连接器,其特征在于,所述内孔的截面是圆形的。
18.根据权利要求13所述的连接器,其特征在于,所述弹簧和所述接片之间的互连是焊接。
19.一种提供电连接到电插头的方法,包括:
提供一种凹式电连接器,其包括:
主体,其具有贯穿其中用以容纳所述插头的内孔;
螺旋凹槽,其形成在所述内孔中;
斜盘簧,其设置在所述螺旋凹槽中并从中突出,以提供到所述插头的电连接,并把所述插头保持在所述内孔中;和
接片,其嵌入在所述主体中,环绕所述内孔,且与所述弹簧互连,并且还具有延伸到所述主体外的导线部分;
以及
把所述插头插入所述内孔中,所述弹簧把所述插头保持在所述内孔中,并提供与它的电连接。
