Abstract
Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a method (600) for communicating data including prioritizing data by assigning a priority to the data, analyzing a network to determine a status of the network, and communicating the data based at least in part on the priority of the data and the status of the network. Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a system (500) for communicating data including a data prioritization component (560, 700), a network analysis component (570), and a data communications component (580). The data prioritization component (560) is adapted to prioritize data by assigning a priority to the data. The network analysis component (570) is adapted to analyze a network to determine a status of the network. The data communications component (580) is adapted to communicate the data based at least in part on the priority of the data and the status of the network.
Claims (10)
1. A method for communicating data by a data communications system (550), the method including:
prioritizing data by assigning a priority to the data;
analyzing a network to determine a status of the network; and communicating the data based at least in part on the priority of the data and the status of the network characterized by further including the steps selecting a mode of the data communications system (550) based upon the status of the network;
changing rules for assigning priority to the data based upon the mode of the data communications system (550).
prioritizing data by assigning a priority to the data;
analyzing a network to determine a status of the network; and communicating the data based at least in part on the priority of the data and the status of the network characterized by further including the steps selecting a mode of the data communications system (550) based upon the status of the network;
changing rules for assigning priority to the data based upon the mode of the data communications system (550).
2. The method of claim 1, wherein the priority of the data is based at least in part on one or more of a type of the data, a category of the data, and a group of the data.
3. The method of claim 1, further including associating one or more available priorities with the status of the network.
4. The method of claim 3, wherein the communicating step includes communi-cating the data when the priority of the data is one of the one or more available priori-ties associated with the status of the network.
5. The method of claim 1, wherein the prioritizing step includes determining message content of the data and assigning the priority to the data based at least in part on the message content.
6. The method of claim 1, wherein the prioritizing step includes assigning the priority to the data based at least in part on a user defined rule.
7. The method of claim 1, wherein the analyzing step includes determining the status of the network based at least in part on one or more of a bandwidth of the network, a latency of the network, and a jitter of the network.
8. The method of claim 1, wherein the analyzing step includes determining the status of the network based at least in part on a user defined rule.
9. A system (550) for communicating data, the system including:
a data prioritization component (560) adapted to assign a priority to data;
a network analysis component (570) adapted to determine a status of a net-work; and a data communications component (580) adapted to communicate the data based at least in part on the priority of the data and the status of the network characterized in that the system (550) is adapted to have at least one mode, wherein said mode is selected based on the status of the network; and the data prioritization component (560) is adapted to assign priority to data based on prioritization rules, wherein said prioritization rules selected based upon the mode of the system (550).
a data prioritization component (560) adapted to assign a priority to data;
a network analysis component (570) adapted to determine a status of a net-work; and a data communications component (580) adapted to communicate the data based at least in part on the priority of the data and the status of the network characterized in that the system (550) is adapted to have at least one mode, wherein said mode is selected based on the status of the network; and the data prioritization component (560) is adapted to assign priority to data based on prioritization rules, wherein said prioritization rules selected based upon the mode of the system (550).
10. The system of claim 9, further including a data organization component (568) adapted to organize the data with respect to other data based at least in part on the priority of the data.
