Abstract
Absorbent articles comprising a low cold flow construction adhesive suitable for joining at least two absorbent article components together, wherein the adhesive comprises an ethylene-based polyolefin resin and a crystallization enhancer, wherein at least one of the absorbent article components comprises a nonwoven material, and wherein the absorbent articles have an in-bag compression opening force of less than about 0.75N. Also, a method for assembling such articles.
Claims (14)
1. A disposable absorbent article having a longitudinal centerline and a lateral centerline, a front waist region with a front waist edge, a rear waist region with a rear waist edge, a crotch region disposed between said front and rear waist regions and two spaced apart longitudinal side edges joining said front waist edge to said rear waist edge and comprising an assembly of components including:
a) a topsheet;
b) a backsheet underlying said topsheet;
c) an absorbent core disposed between said topsheet and said backsheet;
d) at least one feature selected from the group consisting of:
i) a fastening system for joining said front waist region to said rear waist region when said absorbent article is worn;
ii) a barrier cuffs lying adjacent and inboard one of said longitudinal side edges;
iii) a gasketing cuffs lying between said longitudinal side edge and said barrier cuff;
iv) front ears disposed in said front waist region;
v) back ears disposed in said rear waist region;
vi) a topsheet vii) a backsheet viii) an absorbent core wherein said absorbent core comprises at least one of a core cover, a dusting layer, an acquisition member, a distribution member and a storage member; and ix) a receiving member; and e) a low cold flow construction adhesive suitable for joining at least one of said components to another of said components wherein said adhesive comprises an ethylene-based polyolefin resin with an effective amount of a
a) a topsheet;
b) a backsheet underlying said topsheet;
c) an absorbent core disposed between said topsheet and said backsheet;
d) at least one feature selected from the group consisting of:
i) a fastening system for joining said front waist region to said rear waist region when said absorbent article is worn;
ii) a barrier cuffs lying adjacent and inboard one of said longitudinal side edges;
iii) a gasketing cuffs lying between said longitudinal side edge and said barrier cuff;
iv) front ears disposed in said front waist region;
v) back ears disposed in said rear waist region;
vi) a topsheet vii) a backsheet viii) an absorbent core wherein said absorbent core comprises at least one of a core cover, a dusting layer, an acquisition member, a distribution member and a storage member; and ix) a receiving member; and e) a low cold flow construction adhesive suitable for joining at least one of said components to another of said components wherein said adhesive comprises an ethylene-based polyolefin resin with an effective amount of a
2 crystallization enhancer combined therewith and said absorbent article has an in bag compression opening force of less than about 0.75N.
2. A disposable absorbent article according to Claim 1 wherein said opening force is less than about 0.6N.
2. A disposable absorbent article according to Claim 1 wherein said opening force is less than about 0.6N.
3. A disposable absorbent article according to Claim 2 where said opening force is less than about 0.5N.
4. A method of assembling an absorbent article having a longitudinal centerline and a lateral centerline, a front waist region with a front waist edge, a rear waist region with a rear waist edge, a crotch region disposed between said front and rear waist regions and two spaced apart longitudinal side edges joining said front waist edge to said rear waist edge wherein said absorbent article has a low in bag compression opening force, the method comprising the steps of:
a) providing a low cold flow construction adhesive wherein said adhesive comprises an ethylene-based polyolefin resin;
b) providing a collection of absorbent article components, said components selected from the group consisting of:
i) a fastening system for joining said front waist region to said rear waist region when said absorbent article is worn;
ii) a barrier cuff lying between one of said longitudinal side edges and said longitudinal centerline;
iii) a gasketing cuff f lying between said longitudinal side edge and said barrier cuff;
iv) a front ear disposed in said front waist region;
v) a back ear disposed in said rear waist region;
vi) vi) a topsheet vii) a backsheet viii) an absorbent core wherein said absorbent core comprises at least one of a core cover, a dusting layer, an acquisition member, a distribution member and a storage member; and ix) a receiving member; and c) joining at least one of said absorbent article components to another of said absorbent article components using said low cold flow construction adhesive so as to assemble said absorbent article whereby said absorbent article has an in bag compression opening force of less than about 0.75N.
a) providing a low cold flow construction adhesive wherein said adhesive comprises an ethylene-based polyolefin resin;
b) providing a collection of absorbent article components, said components selected from the group consisting of:
i) a fastening system for joining said front waist region to said rear waist region when said absorbent article is worn;
ii) a barrier cuff lying between one of said longitudinal side edges and said longitudinal centerline;
iii) a gasketing cuff f lying between said longitudinal side edge and said barrier cuff;
iv) a front ear disposed in said front waist region;
v) a back ear disposed in said rear waist region;
vi) vi) a topsheet vii) a backsheet viii) an absorbent core wherein said absorbent core comprises at least one of a core cover, a dusting layer, an acquisition member, a distribution member and a storage member; and ix) a receiving member; and c) joining at least one of said absorbent article components to another of said absorbent article components using said low cold flow construction adhesive so as to assemble said absorbent article whereby said absorbent article has an in bag compression opening force of less than about 0.75N.
5. A method according to Claim 4 wherein step c comprises the step of joining said topsheet to an underlying nonwoven layer.
6. A method according to Claim 4 wherein step c comprises the step of joining an elastic material to a nonwoven material to form said barrier cuff.
7. A method according to Claim 4 wherein step c comprises the step of joining an elastic material to a nonwoven and backsheet materials.
8. A method according to Claim 4 wherein step c comprises the step of joining said acquisition layer to said core cover.
9. A method according to Claim 4 wherein step c comprises the step of joining said distribution layer to said core cover.
10. A method according to Claim 4 wherein step c comprises the step of joining said topsheet to said backsheet adjacent one of said longitudinal edges of said absorbent article.
11. A method according to Claim 4 wherein step c comprises the step of joining said receiving member to said backsheet.
12. A method according to Claim 4 wherein step c comprises the step of joining said core cover to said dusting layer.
13. A method according to Claim 4 wherein step c comprises the step of joining said core to said backsheet.
14. A method according to Claim 4 wherein step c comprises the step of joining said dusting layer to said backsheet.
