Abstract
A syringe adapter assembly comprises an adapter body and a ram extender. In one embodiment, the adapter body (12) is attached to an injector by a rear connector plate (50). In a second aspect, the adapter body (12, 122) may comprise a drain hole (130) and/or sealing ring (140). In another aspect, the invention comprises a cleaning member (200) having a body (204) and a plurality of cleaning members (210, 220, 230) extending therefrom.
Claims (21)
1. A syringe adapter assembly for a power injector having a rotatable door on a front side thereof, comprising:
an adapter body having a front end, a rear end, a plurality of inside surfaces, and a central bore therethrough, the rear end being attachable to the injector, the front end being attachable to a syringe, wherein the adapter body further includes a drain aperture through a wall thereof, the drain aperture allowing liquid present in the interior space to drain from the adapter body;
a rear connector plate for attaching the adapter body to the injector;
a sealing ring extending into the central bore;
a ram extender receivable within and extendable through the central bore and the sealing ring, the ram extender having one end attachable to a drive ram of the injector, the other end being attachable to a syringe plunger; and, and an adapter cleaner for cleaning the plurality of inside surfaces of the adapter body, the adapter cleaner including a handle and plurality of sets of cleaning members, the sets of cleaning members being receivable through the front end of the injector and being complementary to the plurality of inside surfaces of the adapter body to clean the plurality of inside surfaces upon insertion of the cleaning members through the front end of the adapter body and rotation of the handle.
an adapter body having a front end, a rear end, a plurality of inside surfaces, and a central bore therethrough, the rear end being attachable to the injector, the front end being attachable to a syringe, wherein the adapter body further includes a drain aperture through a wall thereof, the drain aperture allowing liquid present in the interior space to drain from the adapter body;
a rear connector plate for attaching the adapter body to the injector;
a sealing ring extending into the central bore;
a ram extender receivable within and extendable through the central bore and the sealing ring, the ram extender having one end attachable to a drive ram of the injector, the other end being attachable to a syringe plunger; and, and an adapter cleaner for cleaning the plurality of inside surfaces of the adapter body, the adapter cleaner including a handle and plurality of sets of cleaning members, the sets of cleaning members being receivable through the front end of the injector and being complementary to the plurality of inside surfaces of the adapter body to clean the plurality of inside surfaces upon insertion of the cleaning members through the front end of the adapter body and rotation of the handle.
2. A syringe adapter assembly for a power injector, comprising:
an adapter body having a front end and a rear end, the front end being attachable to a syringe, the rear end being attachable to the injector, the adapter body having a central bore therethrough;
a sealing ring extending into the central bore;
a ram extender receivable within and extendable through the central bore and the sealing ring, wherein the sealing ring substantially prevents liquid present in the adapter body from leaking from the adapter into the injector.
an adapter body having a front end and a rear end, the front end being attachable to a syringe, the rear end being attachable to the injector, the adapter body having a central bore therethrough;
a sealing ring extending into the central bore;
a ram extender receivable within and extendable through the central bore and the sealing ring, wherein the sealing ring substantially prevents liquid present in the adapter body from leaking from the adapter into the injector.
3. The syringe adapter assembly as recited in claim 2, further comprising a drain aperture in a wall of the adapter body that allows liquid to drain from the adapter body.
4. A syringe adapter assembly for a power injector, comprising:
an adapter body having a front end and a rear end, the front end being attachable to a syringe, the rear end being attachable to the injector, the adapter body having a central bore therethrough, wherein the adapter body further includes a drain aperture through a wall thereof, the drain aperture allowing liquid present in the interior space to drain from the adapter body.
an adapter body having a front end and a rear end, the front end being attachable to a syringe, the rear end being attachable to the injector, the adapter body having a central bore therethrough, wherein the adapter body further includes a drain aperture through a wall thereof, the drain aperture allowing liquid present in the interior space to drain from the adapter body.
5. The syringe adapter assembly as recited in claim 4, further comprising a sealing ring extending inter the central bore.
6. The syringe adapter assembly as recited in claim 5, further comprising a ram extender extending through the central bore and through the sealing ring.
7. The syringe adapter assembly as recited in claim 6, further comprising a ram tip cone attached to the ram extender.
8. The syringe adapter assembly as recited in claim 6, wherein the rear end of the adapter body comprises a plurality of threaded apertures, and wherein the assembly further comprises a rear connector plate having a plurality of complementary threaded apertures.
9. The syringe adapter assembly as recited in claim 4, further comprising a lifting ring selectively attached to an interior portion of the adapter body.
10. The syringe adapter assembly as recited in claim 4, further comprising a syringe adapter cleaner that comprises a body and a plurality of cleaning blades.
11. A syringe adapter assembly for a power injector having a rotatable door on a front side thereof, the door having an opening therethrough anda recess on a rear side of the door surrounding the opening, the adapter assembly comprising:
an adapter body having a front end, and a rear end, the rear end having a rear cylindrical portion that is receivable within the door opening, the rear cylindrical portion having a plurality of longitudinally extending apertures;
a rear connector plate sized to be received in the recess and having a plurality of apertures that are complementary to the adapter body apertures, the adapter body apertures and the connector plate apertures being configured to receive fasteners to attach the adapter body to the front door.
an adapter body having a front end, and a rear end, the rear end having a rear cylindrical portion that is receivable within the door opening, the rear cylindrical portion having a plurality of longitudinally extending apertures;
a rear connector plate sized to be received in the recess and having a plurality of apertures that are complementary to the adapter body apertures, the adapter body apertures and the connector plate apertures being configured to receive fasteners to attach the adapter body to the front door.
12. A syringe adapter cleaner for cleaning a plurality of interior surfaces of a syringe adapter, the syringe adapter cleaner comprising:
a body; and, a plurality of cleaning members extending from the body, the cleaning members being complementary to interior surfaces of the syringe adapter.

13. The syringe adapter cleaner as recited in claim 12, wherein the number of sets of cleaning members is three.
14. The syringe adapter cleaner as recited in claim 12, wherein at least one of the sets of cleaning members is biasable radially.
15. The syringe adapter cleaner as recited in claim 12, wherein at least one of the sets of cleaning members extends radially outwardly.
16. The syringe adapter cleaner as recited in claim 15, wherein at least one of the sets of the cleaning members extends axially.
17. A method of cleaning an interior surface of a syringe adapter, the method comprising the steps of:
providing a syringe adapter cleaner including a body and a plurality of cleaning members extending from the body, each cleaning member being complementary to an interior surface of the syringe adapter;
inserting the cleaning members into the syringe adapter; and, rotating the syringe adapter cleaner.

inserting the cleaning members into the syringe adapter; and, rotating the syringe adapter cleaner.
18. The method as recited in claim 17, wherein the cleaner further comprises a handle attached to the body.
19. The method as recited in claim 18, wherein the handle includes a knurled grip.
20. The method as recited in claim 17, wherein the cleaning members are arranged in sets, each set including two cleaning members.
21. A syringe adapter cleaner for cleaning a plurality of interior surfaces of a syringe adapter, the syringe adapter cleaner comprising:
a body; and, a plurality of sets of opposed cleaning members extending from the body, the sets of cleaning members being complementary to the plurality of interior surfaces of the syringe adapter.
