Abstract
A self-expanding implantable medical device formed from one or more non-interlocking filaments. Stents, stent-grafts, occluder devices, and filters are manufactured from one or more filaments utilizing a non-interlocking crossing pattern.
Claims (33)
1. An implantable device comprising a self-expanding structure having a crossing pattern of at least one filament;
wherein the crossing pattern is non-interlocking.

2. The implantable device of claim 1 wherein the non-interlocking crossing pattern allows the expandable structure to be removed after deployment by pulling on one end of the filament.
3. The implantable device of claim 1 wherein the crossing pattern includes bonded crossover points.
4. The implantable device of claim 3 wherein the filament comprises nitinol wire.
5. The implantable device of claim 4 wherein the nitinol wire has an outer surface of which at least a portion is provided with a covering of polytetrafluoroethylene.
6. The implantable device of claim 1 wherein the filament comprises nitinol wire.
7. The implantable device of claim 6 wherein the nitinol wire has an outer surface of which at least a portion is provided with a covering of polytetrafluoroethylene.
8. The implantable device of claim 1 configured for use as a stent.

wherein an innermost layer of the tubular structure consists of a single winding of the filament forming a full revolution of the tubular structure that does not cross over itself.
21. The implantable device of claim 20 wherein multiple layers include a crossing pattern having bonded crossover points.
22. The implantable device of claim 21 wherein the filament comprises nitinol wire.
23. The implantable device of claim 21 wherein the nitinol wire has an outer surface of which at least a portion is provided with a covering of polytetrafluoroethylene.
24. The implantable device of claim 20 wherein the filament comprises nitinol wire.
25. The implantable device of claim 24 wherein the nitinol wire has an outer surface of which at least a portion is provided with a covering of polytetrafluoroethylene.
26. An implantable device comprising a diametrically expandable tubular structure made of at least one filament wherein said filament has a multiplicity of length portions separated by apices wherein the filament is bent to form each of said apices;
wherein said length portions are arranged in two directions such that a first group of said length portions are oriented at an angle to a second group of said length portions;
wherein said length portions of said first group cross multiple length portions of said second group such that a length portion of said first group either crosses over or under a length portion of said second group; and wherein a length portion of said first group crosses over a number of length portions of said second group that is a different number than that crossed over by an adjacent length portion of said first group.
wherein said length portions are arranged in two directions such that a first group of said length portions are oriented at an angle to a second group of said length portions;
wherein said length portions of said first group cross multiple length portions of said second group such that a length portion of said first group either crosses over or under a length portion of said second group; and wherein a length portion of said first group crosses over a number of length portions of said second group that is a different number than that crossed over by an adjacent length portion of said first group.
27. The implantable device of claim 26 wherein the crossing pattern includes bonded crossover points.
28. The implantable device of claim 26 wherein the filament comprises nitinol wire.
29. The implantable device of claim 28 wherein the nitinol wire has an outer surface of which at least a portion is provided with a covering of polytetrafluoroethylene.
30. The implantable device of claim 26 configured for use as a stent.
31. The implantable device of claim 26 configured for use as a stent-graft.
32. The implantable device of claim 26 configured for use as an occluder.
33. The implantable device of claim 26 configured for use as a vena cava filter.
