Abstract
A tube set for dispensing components into a product bag includes a plurality of tubing lines, a manifold, and a bypass. The manifold has a plurality of inlets, each inlet adapted for connection to a respective tubing line. The manifold also has an outlet connectable to a first feed tube of a product bag.
The bypass is associated with at least one of the plurality of tubing lines.
The bypass has a bypass inlet connectable to the tubing line associated communication with an inlet of the manifold and the second outlet is removably connectable to a second feed tube in fluid communication with the product bag, independent of the manifold.
The bypass is associated with at least one of the plurality of tubing lines.
The bypass has a bypass inlet connectable to the tubing line associated communication with an inlet of the manifold and the second outlet is removably connectable to a second feed tube in fluid communication with the product bag, independent of the manifold.
Claims (15)
1. A tube set for dispensing components into a product bag comprising:
a plurality of tubing lines;
a manifold having a plurality of inlets, each inlet adapted for connection to a respective tubing line, and an outlet connectable to a first feed tube of said product bag;
a bypass associated with at least one of said tubing lines; said bypass having:
a bypass inlet connectable to said at least one of the plurality of tubing lines associated with said bypass; and at least two outlets, a first outlet connectable to a tube line in fluid communication with an inlet of said manifold, and a second outlet removably connectable to a second feed tube of said product bag.
a plurality of tubing lines;
a manifold having a plurality of inlets, each inlet adapted for connection to a respective tubing line, and an outlet connectable to a first feed tube of said product bag;
a bypass associated with at least one of said tubing lines; said bypass having:
a bypass inlet connectable to said at least one of the plurality of tubing lines associated with said bypass; and at least two outlets, a first outlet connectable to a tube line in fluid communication with an inlet of said manifold, and a second outlet removably connectable to a second feed tube of said product bag.
2. The tube set of claim 1, wherein said second feed tube is in fluid communication with said product bag independent of said manifold.
3. The tube set of claim 1, wherein said bypass is adapted to direct flow to only said first outlet when said second feed tube is not connected to said bypass.
4. The tube set of claim 1, wherein said bypass is adapted to direct flow to only said second outlet when said second feed tube is connected to said bypass.
5. The tube set of claim 1, wherein said bypass is a plastic.
6. The tube set of claim 5, wherein the plastic is a polycarbonate.
7. The tube set of claim 1, further comprising a flip-top cap to cover said second outlet when said second outlet is not connected to said second feed tube of said product bag.
8. A bypass for a tube set having a manifold and a plurality of tubing lines for dispensing fluid components into a product bag, the bypass comprising:
an inlet fluid passage adapted for connection to a tubing line of said tube set;
an outlet adapted to receive a tubing line in fluid communication with said product bag; and a bypass fluid passage adapted for connection to a tubing line in fluid communication with said manifold, wherein fluid enters said bypass inlet fluid passage and exits through said outlet only when said outlet is connected to a tubing line in fluid communication with said product bag.
an inlet fluid passage adapted for connection to a tubing line of said tube set;
an outlet adapted to receive a tubing line in fluid communication with said product bag; and a bypass fluid passage adapted for connection to a tubing line in fluid communication with said manifold, wherein fluid enters said bypass inlet fluid passage and exits through said outlet only when said outlet is connected to a tubing line in fluid communication with said product bag.
9. The tube set of claim 8, wherein the said bypass fluid passage and said inlet fluid passage form an angle 6.
10. The tube set of claim 9, wherein 0° < 6 < 90°.
11. The tube set of claim 8, wherein said outlet comprises a flip-top cap to releasable seal said outlet when not in use.
12. The tube set of claim 8, wherein the outlet comprises a silicone septum adapted to receive said tubing line in fluid communication with said product bag.
13. A method for selectively dispensing fluid components into a product bag attached to a tube set of a bulk compounder having a plurality of tube lines, a manifold, and a bypass having a fluid passage with an inlet and at least two outlets, the method comprising the steps of:
providing liquid components to be dispensed into a product bag wherein one of the liquid components is maintained separate from the other liquid components;
inserting a tube line in fluid communication with the product bag into the bypass first outlet blocking the bypass second outlet in fluid communication to the manifold; and dispensing a fluid component to be maintained separate from the other liquid components through the bypass and into the product bag, independent of the manifold.
providing liquid components to be dispensed into a product bag wherein one of the liquid components is maintained separate from the other liquid components;
inserting a tube line in fluid communication with the product bag into the bypass first outlet blocking the bypass second outlet in fluid communication to the manifold; and dispensing a fluid component to be maintained separate from the other liquid components through the bypass and into the product bag, independent of the manifold.
14. The method of claim 13, wherein the step of blocking the bypass second outlet in fluid communication to the manifold comprises inserting a hollow probe end of the tubing line in fluid communication with the product bag past an inlet of the bypass fluid passage such that the inlet bypass fluid passage is blocked.
15. The method of claim 13, wherein the liquid component to be maintained separate is a lipid solution.
