Abstract
A device (1) for the elastic stabilisation of bodies of the vertebra with A) at least two bone anchoring means (2), each of them having a central axis (3) and a head segment (4), and B) elastic means (5), which have a longitudinal axis (12) and can be joined with the head segments (4) of two adjacent bone anchoring means (2) in such a manner, that the longitudinal axis (12) extends transversely to the central axes (3), while C) under compressive load the elastic means (5) have a progressive spring characteristics (20), wherein D) the elastic means is manufactured from a metallic material, and E) comprise spring coils (19), of which at least two spring coils (19) have a geometric dimension which is different.
Claims (18)
1. A device (1) for the elastic stabilisation of bodies of the vertebra with A) at least two bone anchoring means (2), each of them having a central axis (3) and a head segment (4), and B) elastic means (5), which have a longitudinal axis (12) and can be joined with the head segments (4) of two adjacent bone anchoring means (2) in such a manner, that the longitudinal axis (25) extends transversely to the central axes (3), while C) under compressive load the elastic means (5) have a progressive spring characteristics (20), characterised in that D) the elastic means (5) is manufactured from a metallic material, and E) comprise spring coils (19), of which at least two spring coils (19) have at least one geometric dimension which is different.
2. A device (1) according to claim 1, characterised in that the spring characteristics (20) of the elastic means (5) has a continuous force-travel diagram.
3. A device (1) according to claim 3, characterised in that the elastic means (5) is constructed as a helical spring (11) with a varying pitch 8 of the spring coils (19).
4. A device (1) according to claim 3, characterised in that measured parallel to the longitudinal axis (12) the helical spring (11) has a slot with a different width x at least between two adjacent spring coils (10).
5. A device (1) according to claim 3 or 4, characterised in that the helical spring (11) is manufactured from a spring material, the cross-sectional area (13) of which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (12) and when measured parallel to the longitudinal axis have different heights h at least between two adjacent spring coils (19).
6. A device (1) according to claim 1, characterised in that the elastic means (5) are constructed as a flat, meander-shaped spring (29) with a plurality of spring coils (19) provided successively along to the longitudinal axis (12).
7. A device (1) according to claim 6, characterised in that each coil (19) has an inflecting loop (21) with an axis (24) of bending.
8. A device (1) according to claim 7, characterised in that the distances L
between the axes (24) of bending and the longitudinal axis (12) are constant on both sides of the longitudinal axis (12).

A device (1) according to claim 7, characterised in that the distance L1 between the at least one axis (24a) of bending, provided on the left side of the longitudinal axis (12) and the longitudinal axis (12) and the distance L2 between the at least one axis (24b) of bending, provided on the right side of the longitudinal axis (12), and the longitudinal axis (12) are different.
10. A device (1) according to any one of claims 6 to 9, characterised in that each spring coil (19) comprises restraining means (22) which limit the allowable spring travel of the relevant spring coil (19).
11. A device (1) according to claim 10, characterised in that the restraining means (22) comprise at feast one lug (23) per spring coil (19), that limits the spring travel s of the relevant spring coil (19).
12. A device (1) according to claim 11, characterised in that the spring travel s, limited by at least one lug (23), is different for at least two spring coils (19).
13. A device (1) according to any one of claims 6 to 12, characterised in that the spring characteristics of the meander-shaped spring (29) comprises n number of spring coils (19) and it has a different spring characteristic i for each spring coil (19), while i1<i j<i n.
14. A device (1) according to any one of claims 7 to 13, characterised in that the wall thickness of the spring material is different at least between two inflecting loops (21).
15. A device (1) according to any one of claims 1 to 14, characterised in that the elastic means (5) comprise at their ends (3, 4) connecting parts (16), which are suitable for the fixing of the elastic means (5) on the bone anchoring means (2).
16. A device (1) according to claim 15, characterised in that at least one connecting part (16a) is a rod (8) that is coaxial with the longitudinal axis (25).
17. A device (1) according to claim 15 or 16, characterised in that at least one connecting part (16b) is a sleeve (17) with a central bore (18) that is coaxial with the longitudinal axis (12).
18. A device (1) according to any one of claims 15 to 17, characterised in that at least one connecting part (16) comprises a hinged joint.
