Abstract

This invention relates to a heat-sealable laminate (200), comprising: a facestock (210) having an upper surface (214) and a lower surface (216); a heat-activatable first adhesive layer (217) underlying the lower surface (21 6) of the facestock (210); and a second adhesive layer (230) overlaying the upp er surface (214) of the facestock (210), with the proviso that the laminate (20 0) is characterized by the absence of either an adhesion promoting layer or an abrasion-resistant transparent coating layer positioned between the upper surface (216) of the facestock (210) and the second adhesive layer (230). These heat-sealable laminates (200) may be used in providing pictorial and/or print designs or messages (e.g., labels decals, etc.) that can be adhered to substrates (e.g., metal, plastic, leather, paper or textile substrates) such as automotive interior surfaces, hard plastic component parts, consumer durable goods, and the like.
