Abstract

Contact lenses are made from the polymerization product of a monomer mixture comprising a polybutadiene-based compound as represented by formula (I): E-B(AB)a-E wherein: A is selected from the group consisting of a chemical bond, -OCO-, -COO-, -CONH-, -NHCO-, -OCOO-, -NHCOO- and -OCONH-; a is zero or an integer of at least 1; each B is independently represented by formula (II) where each of m, n, and p is independently 0 or greater, provided that m + n +
p is at least 10; R is hydrogen or C1-C4 alkyl; each E is independently a polymerizable terminal ethylenically unsaturated organic group.
