Abstract

A field of view processor (568) receives image data from a charge coupled device camera (512) which images a slide (12) and coverslip (14) mounted on a movable frame (40) illuminated from below with a uniform light source (508).
The field of view processor locates the coverslip by finding edge objects which satisfy a predetermined set of criteria.
