Abstract

A method of brazing is provided herein. The method includes the first step of applying a layer of particles of an aluminum alloy filler material. The particles have a coating of a first inorganic flux--type material, e.g., a compound of potassium fluoride and aluminum fluoride together with, or also with, other inorganic flux-type materials, (which has been produced by a particularly-recited and specified method) to at least one of the articles, such that the particles are retained at, or adjacent to, at least a part of the joint between the articles. The next step involves heating to cause the flux-type material and the aluminum alloy filler material to melt and form a brazed joint. The flux coating on the particles of aluminum alloy filler is formed during the atomization procedure.
The final step includes cooling the substrate to solidify the aluminum coating material.
