Abstract

A ruminant feed composition for depressing rumen methanogenesis and improving feed efficiency, which is safe and does not adversely affect on a ruminant, and a method for feeding the composition to a ruminant. As an effective component of the feed composition, cysteine and/or its salts are contained.
Cysteine and/or its salts are fed to a ruminant in an amount of 0.02 to 0.21 g sulfur equivalentkg body weight- 75 per day.
