I think you could make the 12 olympians, one for each hour, which include Zeus, Hera, Athena, Ares, Hephaestios, Aphrodite, Artemis, Apollo, Dionysis, Hermes, Poseidon, and Demeter. But I'm just saying.
you have made the PERFECT hera. beautiful in her jealously and obviously dangerous. her depiction is spot on. well done! is there any reason for the order in which you put the gods?
i love this theme i would like to say have a little blurb about the god or goddess that day my self i know the god or goddess but there are a few out there that don't . its just a frendlly suggestion but i still love the theme the art work is just WOW!!!!!!!!
I've always been a fan of the greek gods and their stories. Imagine my surprise when I found these! The Hera artwork is my absolute favorite, so much my favorite day of the week is now Wednesday in her honor.
Great theme concept, and the art is fabulous, but I gotta nit-pick something here, Hellenic polytheist and total nerd that I am: **** The days of the week that Ms. Izzard has arranged for her theme are as follows -- Sunday - Apollon / Monday - Artemis / Tuesday - Athene / Wednesday - Hera / Thursday - Aphrodite / Friday - Dionysos / Saturday - Ares **** Now, I added this theme on a Sunday, and being unaware (at the time) of what deities she assigned to which days, I thought it was off to a great start. OK, I'm enough of a nit-picker to have preferred Helios for Sunday and Selene for Monday, but I'm also an insufferable nerd, at times, and was just glad that she assigned the Sun and Moon associations properly. **** It's the rest assignment of the days that I have issue with. Basically, one can got to Wikipaedia and find out that the assignment for Tuesday through saturday is half-assed, at best, but here are a couple of sites that aren't Wikipaedia: * http://www.crowl.org/Lawrence/time/days.html * http://www.cjvlang.com/Dow/dow1.html **** Here we where Ms. Izzard is no-where near the nerd that I am. Ares' day is Tuesday, Hermes' is on Wednesday, Zeus on Thursday, Aphrodite on Friday, and Khronos on Saturday. **** Now, when I found Ms. Izzard's Red Bubble gallery site ( http://www.redbubble.com/people/iizzard --definitely worth checking out, by the way), I discovered that she lacked her own interpretations of Hermes, Zeus, and Khronos, but she *did* have the Horai. **** Here is my suggestion for an edit of this theme: * Sunday - Apollon (no edit, basically) / Monday - Artemis (no edit) / Tuesday - Ares / Wednesday - ??? / Thursday - Hera (wife of Zeus) / Friday - Aphrodite / Saturday - The Horai (my reasoning is Saturn < Khronos = Time < Hours = Horai, where we get the word "hour") **** ...now seeing as Hermes is mythologically connected to/associated with both Athene and Dionysos in several ways, unless she wants to interpret Hermes, I'd be totally cool with either on on Wednesday. **** ...but then again, I'm still using this theme, so it doesn't matter to me as much as my big geek-out may imply. Granted, I'd still be psyched if Ms. Izzard were to either edit this theme or create an alternate theme on the same concept, but with the days after Monday better selected.
The images and mythology displayed in this are fantastic. There is real love shown in each piece of art. And for those who might ask, yes, there are Hellenic Polytheists who worship these Gods, even today. :)
The graphics are not only well done, but well presented. The gadget box and text colors correspond perfectly to the banner on the top. Congratulations on a job well done!
