1) Like Ivan said below, Refresh/Mark as read overlap at 1024x600 on Chrome and Safari. 2) A "keep as read" button in the pop-up bubble of each news item would be wonderful. Good widget overall, though!
Mouse wheel scrolling: scrolls the page too! :( - Eric Lebigot - Nov 17, 2009 - Report this comment
When scrolling with the mouse wheel inside this gadget, the whole iGoogle page scrolls too! This is really annoying. Configuration: Firefox 3.5.5 for Mac OS X (Intel). Works on my PowerPC Mac.
1. Refresh/Mark as read overlap on 1024x600 resolution. Please fix it. 2. Please add a refresh button on maximized view. 3. Please add autotranslate Thanks.
I frequently get articles that are duplicated or are of no interest. I can tell this without opening them and reading them in detail. I wish there was a way that I could clean up messages without having to read them. Is there a way that I can select certain messages and delete them?
The previous version of Reader allowed me to set up feeds under headings related to where they came from. I had to remove it cos it got corrupted by a scam Google toolkit page called USA News, and now when I try to get a feed from my local newspaper, the new version just gives me all the stories with no heading to show where they are from. Does anyone know how to fix this? In the old version you inserted the URL, then the name you wanted to call the feed
I often use reader on iGoogle, and it would be really useful, if I could share items from the bubble pop-up in iGoogle. That way I don't have to go find the item in reader to share it.
I think it would be more useful if the up/down buttons moved the view by a page instead of by just one article. If you have lots of articles to scan through (I currently have nearly 800) scrolling one-by-one is a PITA...
It would be very useful if we could discard both single articles and the entire "in view" list of articles.
Make a button to discard one at a time from the gadgetNathaniel Schwartz - Oct 27, 2009 - Report this comment
I sometimes want to just discard items from my reader gadget one at a time. It's not really possible. Could we just get a button that says "mark this item read" ? Well, you wouldn't want the button to say that, but a suitable icon would be nice.
close the bubble when you click on the full linkNathaniel Schwartz - Oct 27, 2009 - Report this comment
If I click on an item in my reader gadget, a bubble pops up. I sometimes click the title to read the full item rather than the summary. When I do that, a new tab opens (which is good) and then I read it. When I'm done, I close my tab and I'm back to the gadget, but the bubble is still up. Obviously I don't need the bubble anymore. It would be nice to close the bubble when the user clicks through to the full article.
This stopped working on Chrome but works on Firefox.
great but please allow removal of links to sites - sunshine kisses - Oct 22, 2009 - Report this comment
i think this gadget is wonderful - it helps me quickly find articles that interest me so i don't spend too much time working through the news. One issue plagues me and I hope that a developer reads this: consider making the "link to news source" optional as sometimes I hit it accidentally and lose my place in the gadget (thus frustrating my pre-'mark all as read' prowess).
I currently get an error saying oops...An error occurred. Please try again in a few seconds. My google reader URL had to be changed to https:/ (from http:/ I believe this gadget will need to be changed as well.
Just wanted to concur with Caleb, this gadget stopped loading for me yesterday. It must be a change on google's end, because another one of my gadgets (google news) doesn't load correctly either. Interestingly they both load correctly when using IE.
This used to be a great gadget, but for some reason it has stopped working for the last several days. I can still go to the full Google Reader site, but the gadget is useless.
Overlapping refresh/mark all read links, plus it doesn't display some feeds properly. For example, the Eurogamer.net feed displays the full url to each news story, instead of the title of the article. Nearly great, but little flaws make it massively annoying.
The same ol' same ol'.... Mark and Refresh overlap and their layout is NOTHING like the thumbnail above in either the three- or two-column layout. Have found clicking in the blank area between the "number of items" drop box and the overlapping text will refresh and not mark all as read. This is a nice simple gadget that does exactly what it's supposed to do with this one nagging problem. It's popular so it's not like the work to fix it will go unappreciated.
refresh and mark all as read overlap - Luigi Hann - Oct 15, 2009 - Report this comment
I realize that this has been posted before, but it's been like this for a long time and needs to be fixed! Any attempt to click "refresh" results in everything being marked as read. My screen resolution is 1024x768. I guess you didn't test at that size? http://luigihann.googlepages.com/reffnexhall-as-read.png
When using chrome version 4.0.220.1, when I maximize my google reader gadget, it doesn't get past "Loading..." It works fine on Firefox. Is anyone else having this problem? Any solutions. Thanks.
excelente app! Solo un comentario: el título no refresca cuando se leen las noticias. Por ejemplo continúa apareciendo "Google Reader (1)", debería decir "Google Reader" cuando no hay ítems no leídos. Muchas gracias.
click on the google reader heading and it will open a new window or tab that has a button with "Add a new subscription" right on the top left :)
How do I add a subscription to Google Reader?Anonymous - Oct 1, 2009 - Report this comment
I follow 7 blogs, am trying to add an 8th one, but can't find the functionality to add a subscription... have spent 10 minutes looking. Probably very obvious, but where is it???

or, more specifically, how do you adjust the "Google" button on the left side of the Google toolbar to pull up the HTTPS page and not the HTTP page?
