Child Safety Resources

The Internet offers so many opportunities to explore, create and collaborate. And to make the most of the web, it’s important to keep yourself safe and secure. Whether you’re a new Internet user or an expert, the advice and tools available on our dedicated Safety Centre can help you navigate the web safely and securely. In addition, we hope that you find the following basic tips helpful.

Use Google's SafeSearch.

Available to any user of Google.com.au, SafeSearch screens for sites that contain adult material and removes them from search results. You can adjust your settings to moderate or strict. We do our best to keep SafeSearch as up-to-date and comprehensive as possible, but inappropriate sites may sometimes slip through the cracks. If you have SafeSearch activated and still find websites containing offensive content in your results, please contact us and we'll investigate it.

Flag inappropriate content on YouTube.

We're working closely with our YouTube community to remove videos that violate our strict guidelines – including bullying, violence and hate speech – and the people who post them from the site. If you come across questionable material on YouTube, flag it. We'll investigate. If it violates YouTube's Terms of Use, it will be removed and the account of the person who posted it will either be suspended or terminated.

Educate yourself.

Google supports government and school campaigns that educate kids and parents on how to make their Internet experiences safer. If you’d like to know more, visit the Google Safety Centre and ask your teacher or parent for more information.
